UFO talk used to feel like background noise, but it’s getting louder, slicker, and more persuasive and that matters if you’re trying to lead your home with wisdom. We sit down with award-winning filmmaker and author Derrick Warfel to look at the UFO phenomenon through a Christian worldview and ask a harder question than “Is it real?”: what message is being preached through it, and who benefits if the church stays silent?
Come see us at The Camp For Men in Fall River, Kansas on October 23-25. We'll also be at The Lion Within Us Conference at the West Chester Nazarene Church in West Chester, Ohio on November 7th. To find out more and to register for either events visit https://thelionwithin.us/events/

Scripture And Daily Spiritual Kickoff
Chris GraingerWelcome to The Lion Within Us, a podcast serving Christian men who are hungry to be the leaders God intends you to be. I'm your host, Chris Granger. Let's jump in. All right, guys, meet episode time. Let's get into it. Okay, so the scripture of the week this week is 1 John, not John, but 1 John chapter 4, verse 1. It says, Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Guys, we love that verse. It took some time. We unpacked it at length in our spiritual kickoff episode. So go back one in your podcast feed. You'll find that SKO episode right there where we try to simplify and apply God's word to our life as Christian men right here in 2026. So hopefully you enjoyed that one. And look, we do the spiritual kickoff Monday through Friday at The Line Within Us. It's called a daily SKO. Okay, so that's what it's called. Daily Spiritual Kickoff. It's free. It's a great way to jump in, to engage with us. We give you a free gift for you. If you're in the continental U.S., we'd love to send you a free gift. It gives you the daily SKO. It also gives you access to our prayer request space. And we have a prayer meeting every month that we would love to invite you to. Okay. So hopefully you guys are going to enjoy this one.
Why UFOs And Faith Collide
Chris GraingerAll right. This episode is going to be a little bit different. Okay, we haven't talked about a topic like this. We're talking about UFOs and God. All right. So this guy, Derek Warfield, he's an award-winning filmmaker. And he wrote this book. So they his publicist reached out to me and they're like, hey, I think this guy would be a good fit for your show. I'm like, okay, send me a copy of the book. That's what I do with all the with all the guests who are authors. They sent me a copy of the book. I was able to like, okay, immediately, yes, I'm I'm all in. I actually heard Derek on the Michael Ponole show as well. Michael had him on like a Saturday or a Sunday episode, I forget. But it was just an interesting conversation. But Derek, he is tackling this topic head on, because he sees this narrative and the impact that it's having on the church. Okay, and so he he's he's coming at it from using God's word, but he's he's not backing down. Look, this is in some some of you guys listen, like, you know, okay, you're rolling your eyes right now. I'm just telling you, have an open mind. Okay, there's lots of things out there that we can't understand or we don't that we can't explain. He does a very good job of to help us think through these items biblically. Okay, now by the time this podcast comes out, everything will be live. So you'll be able to go get the book, you'll be able to go get to to to actually watch the documentary. I highly encourage you to do both. And and Derek and I, we talked offline afterwards. For you guys that would like to do maybe a study in your Sunday school class, he put a resource together for you to do that as well. Okay, so go check out the website and hopefully you enjoy this conversation with my buddy Derek Warfield.
Meeting Derek Warfield And The Project
Chris GraingerDerek, welcome to The Line with Dennis. How are you doing today? Thank you very much for having me. I'm doing good. Good. Awesome, awesome. I'm looking forward to this topic. I've been pretty giddy just to get into it. But before we get into the topic itself, what's something fun about you, Derek, that maybe not many people know about?
Derrick WarfelGosh, what? I played the violin when I was a kid. Well, do you still play? I know. That stopped at the end of elementary school, but uh, you know. But uh, you know, just I don't know. So not not exactly a great thing, but uh I played a oh gosh, this this goes a long way. But you ever see Finney and Rainbow? I uh played the leprechaun in Finney and Rainbow. Okay. Musical. There you go. Not that I'm a leprechaun or believe in leprechauns, but it was uh you know, it was it was a fun part to play. There you go.
Chris GraingerWell, I actually ran across you with on uh the Michael Noel show, if I remember correctly, is what I heard. So tell us about that experience. Michael's a great guy.
Derrick WarfelI've I've had a lot of interviews. I don't remember all of them. I mean, it's pretty much the same. My my interest is warning the church. I just see this is a coming attack on the church. Uh and I just need to basically get some word out there to say, hey, what they're saying in media, what uh Spielberg said in uh Disclosure Day is just not true. It's it's it's uh Satan always tried to find a way. This is like a new cult. Think of it like uh the beginning of Mormonism, the beginning of Jehovah's Witnesses, except this is basically a cult about around UFOs and space beings and star people, and you know, I mean, if you watched, I I think uh what is it uh Ancient Aliens on History Channel just completed their 20th year, 20 years talking about visitors to Earth from other planets and other galaxies and just pushing out this narrative that just is not true.
A UFO Narrative That Denies Jesus
Chris GraingerWell, I'm really excited. I mean, the the book's called UFOs and God, revealing deception and truth behind the supernatural invisible war. So, guys, first of all, go get a copy of the book. And it's also a documentary, right? So at this at the time of the podcast. It's a documentary.
Derrick WarfelYeah, the documentary's coming out September 11th. And what we did, I mean, we interviewed astrophysicists, we interviewed pastors, we interviewed apologists, we interviewed Navy radar operators, we interviewed scientists, we interviewed men on the street, we went to uh uh what is it, Roswell, you know, that's the annual celebration, and tried to get as much information as we could uh from different points of view. And uh, you know, it it becomes very clear when you talk to all the people what's going on, that this is literally an attack, it's a spiritual attack on the Christian faith. And the reason I say that is this is that everybody knows what the gospel is, right? It's basically, you know, Jesus died for our sins, we've offended God, we need to have a way back, we need to have Christ in our life. Uh, they deny all of that. What is they? Uh people have had experiences with these beings. Now, you could say they're spirits, you could say they're angels, you could say fallen angels, you could say whatever. But I mean, there are there's documented accounts of people who telepathically have been in touch with these beings. Um, and uh, you know what they teach? They teach that there is no personal God. They teach that since there's no personal God, there's no real sin against a personal God, right? Therefore, there's no need, uh, there's no judgment day. And if there's no judgment day, there's no need for a savior. If there's no need for a savior, how do we improve in life? We improve in life by transcendental meditation. Or we improve in life through reincarnation. I mean, what does that sound like to you? It sounds exactly like new age. And that's what it is. I mean, I believe that Satan has been feeding all the different world religions and cults for thousands of years, and this is just the latest way of getting his anti-Christian message out there. It's like it completely goes opposite to Christianity. And if you know from the Apostle Paul said that even if we came back to you and preached a different gospel, or an angel preached a different gospel, let him be accursed. You know, that tells you who these beings are.
Chris GraingerHave you always had a passion for this topic, Derek? Or is this something that kind of came as you got older in your discipleship journey? Like when did this all start for you?
Derrick WarfelWell, I guess, you know, you look at the spiritual gifts, and I I, you know, the one that seems to come up to me occasionally is discerning of spirits. And uh, you know, so in seminary and even before seminary, and when I was working with crew or campus crusade, I always was interested in studying cults. How do cults work? How do different religions work? How do they get their people? And uh, you know, Satan uses the same playbook in all the different ways. Uh, first of all, is you know, to deny a personal God, to deny Jesus is the Son of God, uh, to deny that we need salvation. And um as I study them, how they work, uh, it just became interesting to me as I started seeing what was happening on in the news and on radio, on TV, and shows, films like Disclosure Day, that this just fit in that same pattern. It wasn't so much that I'm interested in UFOs, but but I'm interested in keeping the church away from false teaching. That is kind of where my heart is. And when I saw this, I thought, oh my gosh, this is just this is nonsense. Now, shows like Ancient Aliens are very well produced, very slick, and they make a strong argument. Maybe we're being visited by beings from other planets. There's
Why Physical Aliens Don’t Add Up
Derrick Warfelthere's billions of other planets out there. Why wouldn't they visit us? Uh, you know, well, it's nonsense because we talk to the people at Reasons to Believe, the astrophysicists, and it's just impossible. Physically, at least if you look at just three-dimensional space and one dimension of time, the world, the sun the constraints that we live in, having a person or a being like us come from another planet like ours is just impossible. Uh they will tell you that there's billions of planets like Earth out there. It's just not true. Uh, there's a lot of planets out there that a certain distance from the sun and they might have water on them. But uh there's like at least 14 other very specific conditions for life to exist like ours on our planet. Uh the tilt of the Earth, uh, the distance from the moon, the Earth-Moon tide system. Uh what are some of the other things here I had written down? Um uh magnetic field, which propels cosmic radiation, the level of gravity on the earth, the mix of gases like nitrogen and oxygen. If there was more oxygen on the earth, fires would be blaking out everywhere. I mean, there's very specific that just the asteroid delt that we have is very unique. Uh I mean, basically, there is no other planet like Earth. It's just almost impossible. And even if there was, it would probably take too long to get to it. They estimate that we live in a galaxy or a universe that's a hundred billion light years wide. Okay, light travels in a year six trillion miles. So a hundred billion light years, it's a lot. To travel that distance, even the closest star to us is Alpha Centuri. That's four, what is it, four point three light years, which is twenty five trillion miles. And you think, well, but if we travel at the speed of light, we could get there in four years. Well, the problem is we can't travel at the speed of light because it takes too much energy to get us moving that fast. Secondly, uh even if we could travel one-tenth the speed of light, there is so much space dust between us and these stars. It seems like there's nothing out there in space, but there is. There's a lot of dust and particles, it would tear our ship apart. And so literally Feinstein said that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. So it's impossible for us to get to one, even if something existed on the hundred billion light year wide universe, we'd never know about it. And lastly, the possibility, and this is goes back to evolution, which is, you know, uh mathematicians have been tapping evolutionary biologists on the shoulders for decades and saying, hey guys, you your theory doesn't work. The odds of getting, and they did this at Reasons to Believe also, uh, the odds of getting just one simple bacterium by chance, by collision of particles throughout this huge universe by chance, would be ten to the five hundred and fifty-six power to one. That's ten followed by five hundred and fifty-six zeros to one. Now, by comparison, just to win the California State Lottery, you only need ten to the ninth power to one. It would just be impossible for those three reasons. There's nothing like Earth, the distances are too great, and the odds of getting life by chance are just too great. So it cannot be something from our universe, three-dimensional, one dimension of time space. There has to be something else.
Dimensions, Angels, And The Invisible War
Derrick WarfelAnd we of course say it's another dimension. And when you're talking about another dimension, what are you talking about? You're talking about heaven. And so, like for instance, Paul mentions, remember, he said uh there was a point where he was stoned, he said he felt he went to the third heaven. Well, in the Bible, the first heaven is the atmosphere, the second heaven is the celestial heavens, the stars. The third heaven is where God dwells. It's another dimension, it goes beyond where we are. Uh let me give you an example. The uh the angels that sang at Christ's birth, the shepherds were in the fields looking up at the stars, nothing there. A few seconds later, a whole host of angels singing and glorifying God. A few seconds later, the angels are gone. Well, where did they go to? The moon, Mars, Alpha Centuri? You know, I mean, the point is they moved between our dimension and another dimension, and they did it instantly. And the people who studied this phenomenon of these ships the ships they track them on radar, can go anywhere between that we can track 40,000 miles an hour and 200,000 miles an hour, and then they disappear. Where do they disappear to? I I think the concept is we don't understand what another dimension would look like. Um it's just yet in the Bible there's countless examples of this. The angels that visited Lot, the angels that visited Abraham, basically they came to visit and then they were gone. Where did they go to? The Zeta Reticulous Star System? No, they they they're moving between the let me another example is Jacob's ladder. Now, this is a vision, okay? Right, right. But it gives you a picture that Jacob was in a vision. He saw angels descending to Earth and then ascending. Well, where are they ascending to? Well, they're not ascending to the planets, they're ascending to another dimension. And so the Bible gives us hints all the way through that there is this other dimension we call heaven, and uh, you know, the angels have dwelled that that dimension, you know, for as long as we've been on earth. And uh so basically that's it. Those those are the three reasons that literally they cannot be within our universe. Right and astrophysicists like Q Ross have said, whatever they're doing, they work with a different law of physics than we're subject to. For example, when these craft come into our universe, they don't have a sonic boom. Well, that's impossible to turn it to our physics. These crafts do not have a jet trail. How are they moving? So they're subject to a different law than we are. And I guess my belief is, and I think it's pretty clear, that these are a species of beings that God created before he created us, and we call them angels. Sometimes the Bible calls them stars or watchers or sons of God, but they're very powerful, very smart beings. And at a certain time in the past, one third of them rebelled against God and have been fighting God, fighting other the holy angels, and also fighting us. Uh the Bible, uh, what is it? A famous preacher, Donald Gray Barnhouse, described it as the invisible war. Now we see this all the time in terms of temptations, in terms of wars. Uh, you know, there's there's this passage. I mean, there's only hints of this in the Bible. It doesn't go into a lot of detail. But like Daniel, he was praying for something, and an angel finally came to him 21 days later, and the angel apologized and said, Look, I was coming. I heard your prince. Yeah. Yeah, but I had to fight off the prince of Persia. What, a physical prince? No. A whole uh an unholy angel. And uh the Bible, the the verse that I use a lot comes back to uh what am I saying? Ephesians 6 12. Ephesians 6 12 is we don't struggle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, world forces of darkness, spiritual forces of wickedness in heavenly places. Now those are four different levels of angels, powerful angels. And uh, you know, we have this these are fallen angels, by the way. And uh the Bible calls us as humans sheep, right? Because the sheep are the dumbest animals in the farm. The Bible never calls angels sheep. They are very smart, they've been tricking us for years and for decades and for millennia, and this whole thing with UFOs, with flying saucers, is just another trick in their their bag. They know that in the present day, you know, ancient Near Eastern gods aren't going to affect us. We're just gonna throw that away. And the Egyptian gods or the fairies or whatever. So they come to us with a technology that we can accept, and the technology we can accept is flying saucers. And so, you know, there's it as I say in the book, it's just another coat of paint on an old deception. And the deception is to turn us away from God and to trust them. I mean, think about it, and I understand you, I saw you had podcasts on working with your children and things like that. And this is part of the reason we're doing this book, because the younger generation, they're looking and they're saying, Well, look at this. These these beings have technology a thousand years advanced to us. They must have the better answers to the basic questions of life if they've been around that long. Like, is there a God? What's my purpose in life? Why am I here? You know, why why are we listening to this this old itinerant advanced, dusty old evangelist 2,000 years ago named Jesus? This is now, this is science, this is today. You know, I'm not gonna listen to that anymore. You know, I'm gonna listen to this. And my fear is that as this becomes more mainstream with films like Spielberg's, you know, Disclosure Day, that these are just space travelers that we need to listen to. You know, I I I I'm afraid that the church is gonna get suckered into this.
Chris GraingerYeah. Amen. Hey
Why Churches Avoid The Topic
Chris Graingerguys, we're gonna take our first break with Derek and we'll be right back. If you're like me, you don't need another book just sitting around collecting dust. What I enjoy is something to help guide me when my feet hit the ground in the mornings. And that is why we put together Unleashing the Lion Within. It has honest stories, scripture you can apply, and simple steps to help you lead at home, at work, and everywhere in between. So if you've been feeling stuck or scattered lately, you may find this resource encouraging. Read a few pages. Take one step and watch what God does with your obedience. Hey, and if reading's tough for you right now, no problem. The book is also available in audible version, so you can listen on the go. So if this sounds interesting, check out the lionwithin.us slash book or search for unleashing the lion within directly on Amazon. So there's no pressure here, just a resource that many guys are finding helpful. So grab the format that fits and take your next step. And Derek, I am curious to your point, the church is getting suckered into this. I almost feel like this is a taboo area where you know I don't I don't I haven't heard any sermons on this, and very, very few, very few pastors are are touching this uh with a 10-foot pole. And I'm curious, why do you think I mean but it's like to the same point. I mean, the the modern topics of the day, they're not touching either, so I'm not surprised about that at at all. But so what's your hopes with this? You hope that that churches are going to embrace the conversation and start at least opening the door to start exposing the truth?
Derrick WarfelWell, I think that we've kind of live in an age where we don't seem to believe that supernatural Beings are still trying to affect us. You know, you don't believe Ephesians 6.12. It's basically we wrestle not against flesh and blood. Well, what does that mean? It means it's that boss at work is not a real problem. The spouse that we have that's driving us nuts, the uh the the thing at university that's leading my kid away, this is all part of the supernatural realm of Satan's plan. I believe all the all the uh all the religions and all the cults of the world world were essentially seated by Satan and his demons. Uh the Bible calls it the doctrine of demons. You know, essentially, there's the thing as as a seminary student, I studied there's a lot of similarities between all the religions of the world and all the cults. The one thing that's completely different is Christianity. You know, it's like you're saved by grace, not by works. Uh you you have a debt to Heavenly Father. A lot of them don't believe in a judgment day. You know, I mean, it's like literally, this is and if you study, I believe that all the paranormal and supernatural evil events, the occult, are all connected. And the interesting thing to me is that I've watched ancient aliens enough to see that they're connecting all these other supernatural things from the same source. Right. 100%. Are we back on, or no, you are. Okay, okay. So, yeah, so basically, um, you know, I I think that if you look at well, let me give you another example here. How do you think you communicate? Like there's a guy called Stephen Greer, who's an ex-emergency room doctor who got into this big time, and he was trying to tell everybody we need to connect with these beings. What are we doing? The governments won't connect, we should connect. And you know what he does to teach people how to connect? He says they go out on hilltops and they get involved in transcendental meditation. Well, TM is basically an offshoot of Hinduism. That should tell you something right there. And so you see, he even has a documentary. You see these people sitting there, you know, doing TM, and you see these little orbs of light circling around them. And I'm thinking to myself, these people are calling demons to themselves. This is insane. Another way, there was a story of some uh uh some guys in Spain who felt that they needed to go and connect with these beings, this with a UFO. And they went to the seashore and they saw the UFO off in the distance, but they're thinking, how how do we connect with them? And you know what they used? A Ouija board. That should tell you they're using the occult. Why would you use the occult to connect to space aliens? Because maybe that's what they are. Uh and and as I mentioned earlier, the Bible gives two tests. The Apostle John says, test the spirits, because not every spirit is of God. And uh the first test is the doctrinal test. Uh he says, those who don't confess Jesus is coming in the flesh is not of God. And the apostle Paul gives the doctrines of the gospel. He says, if it if another, even an angel teaches a different doctrine, let him be accursed. The second test is the fruits test. Jesus gives us that test. He says, a bad tree cannot produce good fruits. You'll know them by their fruits. Well, what are the fruits of these beings? The fruits are that they destroy lives. Uh we have countless examples in the book and in the film, and not just us, but there's a lot of Travis Walton had a whole book on this. Uh there's other people out there uh who've uh there's a guy called Jim Sparks who wrote a book called The Keepers, who had been abducted many times. He doesn't like it, but he keeps going because he doesn't have seem to have a choice. Uh these are beings that destroy, that destroy the family, they destroy your health, they destroy your finances, and and even people who stop on a highway, they see a UFO, they get out of their car and they look at it. These are some of the results that they get. Uh hair loss, headaches, nosebleeds, heart palpitations, burned skin, nightmares, brain problems, paralysis, temporary blindness, lost time. And this is from a government study of people who had encounters with UFOs. So it's not just stuff I'm making up. And that's we put that in the book. That literally the thing that's so deceptive about Deceivant Spielberg's disclosure day is the indication there is the only people who are being hurt are the aliens. They showed some sort of video that I've never heard exists in 1973 where humans were torturing the alien prey aliens. I've never seen that. But I can give you countless examples, and they don't mention any of this where humans are hurt by the aliens. And they make it like these are our friends, and they're to help us. They're to help us stop polluting our planet and start fooling around with nuclear weapons. They're here to help, you know, and my point is yeah, they may help sometimes, but like Satan always does, that there's always a catch, right? Uh there was a guy, uh, I'm gonna forget his name now, uh, who studied the demonic, and he talked about demonic healings. That there were people that were healed, but there's always a quid pro quo. There's always a price. And uh I think that, you know, this is just a trick to get us involved. And I'm just afraid that the church is gonna fall for this because it's happened before. I
Testing Spirits And Examining The Fruit
Derrick Warfelmean, right now, UFOs are kind of, what can I say, a joke. They're that they're kind of becoming but they're becoming mainstream. But think about this. Imagine the people 150 years ago, Charles Darwin, Lyle, who were studying the possibility of evolution. And I imagine the pastors back then just looked at that and go, that's not going to be a problem. Obviously, people aren't too stupid to believe that life came about by chance. Well, here we are 150 years later, and there's no university that takes Christian creation seriously. In fact, there was a film a while back where even just when Christians or other people talk about intelligent design, they lost their professorship at universities. So, you know, just because we're in the age right now where people aren't taking it seriously, my fear is in the future they could very much. German theologians in the late 1800s basically began to doubt that Moses wrote the book of Genesis and Exodus and the Deuteronomy and so on. And they also began to doubt that Jesus, the historical Jesus, wasn't who the Bible says he was. And again, you know, that just circulated in a few elite academic communities. But today, today, you know, it's like uh Marna has done a study to show that most pastors don't believe the Bible historical, you know, and and I think that it's scary because this I see as a growing thing. And if we're in the end times, I don't know if we are, but if we are, I see this as becoming more and more accepted. And think about it. If there was a species that was a thousand years advanced from us, wouldn't we want to know what they know? And wouldn't that become the final, how can I say, the final argument? Anybody who disagreed with them would be ignored. And I'm just afraid, I'm just trying to get the word out now to say, hey, there's another alternative here. There's a lot of questions still, but I try to answer most of that quote, those questions in the book.
Chris GraingerYeah. And for the guy listening and when they hear about the topic of UFOs in general, how how should how do you think they should approach it without fear or uh just just just being you know a skeptical from from you know, there's so many guys out there that are skeptical to this in periods, but what is your what is your recommendation on a Christian man's approach to this topic? I guess is what I'm saying.
Derrick WarfelI think I think we need to stop ignoring it. And if somebody comes and says to us, you know, I've just encountered a UFO, we shouldn't laugh at them. It's just like I've come I've just I've run across this cult that says I can they can solve everything. I mean, you you could laugh at them, but that's not helping them. Your your goal is to help them. Is that you need to take it seriously? I give at least a hundred examples in the first chapter of the book.
Chris GraingerI didn't notice that. It kept going with example after example. You have different levels of examples as well.
Derrick WarfelYeah, yeah, because uh, you know, that literally at a certain point when you have a lot of credible people coming forward, when you have Navy ships tracking these things, when you have government installations tracking these, when you have an example of uh Maelstrom Air Force Base where a UFO hover and they shut down all the controls for the nuclear missiles. I mean, why do you think the government's holding hearings? Something is going on. And as Christians, we need to have answers for it. Because if we don't, everybody's just gonna go with the wrong narrative. So I I need to say, you know, I don't I I understand like for many years, I mean, I felt the same way in the 1980s. This is just a joke. I'm not gonna spend any time with it. But I just realized I couldn't, I had to have an answer as a Christian. So I think that we need to know about it. Uh I don't think we need to be absorbed by it. You know, uh C.S. Lewis talks about the uh hidden things, the supernatural realm, the occult, the demonic, and he says there's two dangers. One is to be totally absorbed by it, you know, and you'll fall into it. The other is to put ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist. Um but you're asking, what can we do to defend ourselves? Well, one is uh somebody says, come outside, there's a UFO, I would say don't go. Number one, 99 times out of a hundred, it's not a UFO, it's just something natural like reflected light or whatever. But if it is a UFO, they're not flying by just for entertainment. They're flying by to influence you. Uh, I've seen that on these UFOs, people will report that there's flashing lights. Uh now we know that strobe lights can affect people who have epilepsy. Maybe these beings have figured out a way with a sequence of lights to hypnotize us. And there was a film, uh really good film by a guy called Gary Bates in Aussie, about 2017, uh called Alien Intrusion. And when he studied this, he said, you know, these kinds of abduction experiences seem very much like hypnosis. And, you know, it's like hypnosis is basically allowing somebody else to control your thoughts. And uh people who have had hypnosis do have periods of missing time. And people who've gone through these UFO experiences have missing time in their life. So it's dangerous even to expose yourself to that. Now, if somehow you're sitting in bed and you see this gray alien coming up over the edge of your bed, uh you know, you don't have to be afraid as a Christian. Because greater is he, as this is what you're saying, greater is he that's in you than he that's in the world. And the Bible says, you know, if you're tempted by the devil directly, submit to the Lord and resist the devil, and he will flee from you. So we don't have to be afraid of it. I just think we shouldn't go seeking it. But if it comes to us, we should not be afraid. Um, you know, and and I think particularly uh, you know, if people come to us and they have these experiences, let me just give one last example here because when we go break. But they say people have had these abduction experiences or hypnotic spells or whatever it is, I don't know everything about it. They say that once it's started, you can't stop it. But there's one thing that stops it. Calling on Jesus' name. Yeah. Does that tell you these aren't intergalactic visitors? You know, there was one guy, they have a video, they had a video on him. He was being lifted off his bed. He was essentially feeling he had to go with these beings, and he didn't want to go, and he didn't know what to do, and he just yells out, Jesus help me. And at that moment he's plopped right back on the bed. You know, that Jesus has power over these beings. So we don't need to be afraid. And I talk about spiritual warfare, how to deal with these beings if you encounter them. Most of our spiritual warfare happens on a much simpler level that we're all familiar with. The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, the boastful pride of life. And it's interesting, right after Paul talks about in Ephesians 6.12 these different levels of fallen angels, he goes into the spiritual armor, the breastplate of righteousness, the belt of truth, the the shield of faith. I mean, so it's the weapons that we have are weapons we already know about. We just have to use them, you know, and so um yet, but most most spiritual warfare just happens in the thought life. Jesus, it says in uh 2 Corinthians 10, we uh what is it, uh basically um that our warfare is a spiritual warfare, not weapons of the flesh, taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. That's where spiritual warfare is most of the time.
Guardrails, Abductions, And Calling On Jesus
Chris GraingerAmen. Well guys, we're gonna take a next break with Derek. We'll be right back. Let's just say it out loud. Marriage is one of the greatest gifts that God can give a man, and one of the most consistent places where we can feel unsure of what we're doing. Even the strongest marriages have moments where you look at your wife and you think, you know what? I love you. I'm so committed to you. But right now, I have no idea what I should do next. And that's why we launched something new inside the lion within us community. It's our very first support group. And it's for husbands. And we're calling it committed and occasionally confused. This isn't just a place for men in crisis. So if you're there, hey, you're welcome. This is for any man who refuses to coast and wants to take his marriage from good to great. So inside, you'll find an active chat and a feed honest conversations and brotherhood that says, You're not alone. We've been there. Let's bring this to God and grow. And we're also doing a monthly couples night where your wife is invited because we're not letting the world set the agenda for our home. Now, if you want access to this support group, it's very simple. Go to thelionwithin.us and join the Lions Den. Okay, that's thelionwithin.us. Start your 30-day free trial of the Lions Den community, and boom, you have instant access to the committed and occasionally confused support group. We'll see you inside the den. Derek, I am very interested. So when I talk to guys about this topic, one of the first things that typically comes up is well, it's just demons. It's just demons. Is that a proper response? Or how would you how would you correct that?
Derrick WarfelI'm glad you said that. Yes. Um as I said, getting back to 612, we wrestle not against flesh and blood, Prince of Valley's powers, word force, strike, spiritual, we can assembly places. There's a big difference to the demons that Jesus confronted with people writhing on the ground. And the fallen angel that met the angel that was coming to Daniel. I mean, the problem we think is that they're all the same. There's different levels of the doctrine of demons, the demonic world. Yes, you could call them demons in one sense. They're real the better term is fallen angels. The demons that we usually think about demonic possession are probably, in my mind, the lowest level of fallen angel. Okay? So there's many different levels, and they're very smart. I mean, the demons that you see in uh the Exorcist spitting up pea soup and turning people's neck around, these are not the smartest and the best, but they're all very intelligent. But the the problem we have is we have a false picture of who these beings are. We think they're little fat men in red tight bodysuits with a pitchfork and horns. You know, the Bible tells us that true angels, and I would assume fallen angels can, can look exactly like us. It says, you may have entertained angels unaware. The angels that uh that Daniel saw looked exactly like a man. The angels that Abraham and Lot saw looked like men. And the angel in uh Colossians 2 looks like a regular angel. So and you know, Satan can look like a uh a serpent. Uh Satan can look like an angel of light. Uh I believe when people tell us in these experiences that they can shape shift, I believe that. That they have abilities either to project an image in our mind that fools us or to shape shift. But to say the problem when you say, oh, they're all demons, what do you think of? You think of the demons Jesus confronted. And they're not all like that. They're they're different. Like the experience people have with these abduction experiences is similar to demonic possession, but it's slightly different. They're not being possessed from the inside so much as they are being manipulated by mind control from the outside. Right. So, but it's still the same source. So, my problem with that is there was a French writer called Baudelaire who said the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. You know, is that literally if you're convinced this straw man that we see in Disney cartoons or in Renaissance art is really what angels are. You know, I'm not worried about them, you know. Of course you're not. Because the angels that really are there, the fallen angels that are really there, are far more sophisticated. As I said, the Bible never calls angels sheep. These are very, very intelligent beings. I mean, if they can create crafts that cross dimensions and can go at speeds like that, I mean, you know, that that is way beyond our ability. So to say that they're all just these little guys with pitchforks and red skin tight body suits, I mean, that's my problem when people say they're all demons. They are all demonic, there's no question. They are all fallen angels, but they're not all the same. Let me just give one example. There's a look at the many varieties of animals in this earth. I mean, God seems to love variety or of or of plants, even just in the human race. Look at the many varieties of people, you know, giants, midgets, I mean, basically, you know, red hair, blonde hair, I mean, all the different types. And when I was um going to an aquarium and I walked past the seahorse exhibit, and it said there's 40 different types of seahorse. I think, what why did God create 40 different types of seahorses? God loves variety. So to say that there's only one variety of fallen angels or angels is crazy. They don't all look like the the Renaissance art that you've seen or the cartoons that you've seen. I mean, uh, even in the UFO community, they talk about the Nordics, they talk about the Greys, they talk about the uh uh the uh insectoids, they talk about, and there's obviously uh there's cases where they tracked this animal with looked like a ferocious huge wolf, and at some point the footprints disappeared. That can they shape shift to look like animals? I've talked to people who said, you know, to basically lessen the shock, sometimes they appear to these abductees like animals, foxes, robins, birds. And that's one thing I think Spielberg got right: that he said this one lady was confronted by a cardinal and then by a fox. And so I think that literally uh these are intelligent beings that have abilities we don't understand, the Bible hasn't told us everything about them. What I did first was to study what the Bible tells us about holy angels, and I started with that. And then I figured fallen angels have many of the same abilities that the holy angels have, okay? But since they've separated themselves from God, they may have lost some of those abilities, okay? And it's possible that some of the things we encounter aren't the fallen angels themselves, but robots controlled by them or androids. I mean, literally, if we can look at what we can do in creating robots today. It's kind of primitive, but they look like people and they can act and move and walk. Can you imagine if we had intelligence a thousand times smarter than us, the type of robots we could create, the type of spaceships we could create? I think that literally, so we don't know even which are possibly the actual fallen angels or demons, and which are in fact uh robotic beings. Um, you know, so so to say, you know, when somebody says, oh, they're all demons, well, they're all from the same realm, the domain of darkness. But they're not all the same type, let's put it that way. So it basically it minimizes the threat, which is what I don't like. Right.
Chris GraingerWhat what about the dad? Speak to the dad right now, Derek, who, you know, he has a house, maybe he has a couple kids. This is a topic that's gonna be brought up at school. It gets brought up at the dinner table. How's a dad navigate this? What would be your advice there?
Derrick WarfelThat's a good one. I think you just study, you know. I mean, Billy Graham has a really good book called Angels, God's Secret Agents. Now, most of that is dealing with holy angels. He does have a chapter on fallen angels. I think, you know, you just have to educate them in terms of the Bible uh and show them that that there are two types of angels out there, the holy angels and the fallen angels. And this invisible war is going on all the time. And that uh, you know, I don't want to just promote my book, but there's not a lot written on this. There's a couple good books out there. Uh, there's one by Reasons to Believe, uh, Little Green Men, and they talk about who these beings are. That was written maybe 30 years ago. Uh there's another one by a pastor in Arizona. I'd say study the Bible. I think you know, you need to have these conversations and say, look, you know, you wouldn't pick up a book on self-help if it encouraged you to be a Scientologist or a Jehovah's Witness or a Mormon. So why would you pick up a book? Why would you pick up a movie about UFOs when these beings completely deny everything in Christianity? God, Jesus Christ, salvation, uh, you know, serving him. Uh basically, I would say, you know, just study spiritual warfare, uh, and you know, read read Ephesians 6. I mean, it's all there. It gives the basics, and the other stuff about confronting demonic or you know, satanic things directly. Uh, there's other passages in the Bible, like what you're doing here, the lion within. I mean, there's a lion within us. Satan is more afraid of us than we are of him, believe me. I think we can't be proud and arrogant about it. I mean, even when Michael was disputing with Satan over the body of Moses, he didn't say, Let's fight. He said, The Lord rebuked you. You know, because that's where our source of power is, is that literally uh don't I I I I've had friends who just got involved with this. When you open yourself up to the demonic, it comes in. It has to be invited. Uh and you know, you do it by fooling around with tarot cards, doing looking at mediums, uh, you know, going to seances, fooling with Ouija boards. Um I don't fully understand it, but I do understand that God has put some protective barriers up there. We have to invite them in. And as long as you don't, you're you're you're I mean, one of the dirty tricks is yoga. Because yoga most people think of as just physical exercise. And it is, but as you get to higher levels in yoga, it's very much into Hinduism and spiritualism. And I think that there's a danger. Anytime you're fooling with drugs, you're opening up your mind. And, you know, basically Satan will come in and fill that. Uh, meditation, transcendental meditation. You're opening up your mind. Most people say TM is basically emptying your mind. Well, that's not a good idea. Well, what's the difference from biblical meditation? Somebody said to me. I said, well, the difference is you're filling your mind. You're filling your mind with God's thoughts and commands and scripture. TM is you're emptying your mind. When you empty your mind, you're opening it up for something else to come in. Think of hypnosis. When somebody's being hypnotized, they've lost conscious control, and the hypnotist is able to come in and, you know, make suggestions and change a person. So, yeah, it's very dangerous. Like, uh, I'm a movie guy. I don't know. I mean, I hate doing this, but but there was a film called Beetlejuice many years ago, where basically this demon comes out and he he says he's gonna help people, right? I'm gonna help them. Michael Keaton or something, and he's like, But you gotta say my name three times. You gotta say my name three times. Well, why is that? Because you're inviting them in. Tell your tell your children never. I mean, I remember I went through uh when I when I first got my first communion in church and uh you know was went through confirmation, uh, they said basically, you believe in Jesus Christ? Of course, I believe in Jesus Christ. But they also said something that kind of shocked me. This says, do you renounce the devil and all his works? And I'm a 12-year-old, of course, I'm not gonna do that. But but but you see, that's what you need to do. You need to say, Um I'm not even considering that stuff. I'm not messing with that. Uh I know of a seminary professor, very, very smart guy, who basically boasted about having the biggest library in the occult that anybody ever had so he could study the subject. And I kind of followed him a little bit. A couple years later, he just kind of went off the rails. You you when you open yourself, I mean, that's the thing that I'm afraid of. I didn't want to study the subject too much. I wanted to study it enough to write on it, but I didn't want to become overcome with it because uh you're opening yourself up to uh demonic control, like curiosity killed the cat, you know? Amen. And uh it can kill us as well.
Making The Film Through Opposition
Chris GraingerHey guys, we're gonna take our last break. We'll be right back with Derek. If you're tired of going at it alone, we understand every man needs wise counsel, but finding it can be quite the challenge. That's why we build our leadership masterminds. This isn't just more content, guys. It's real discipleship with a consistent rhythm, small cohorts of no more than seven guys, honest hot seat sessions, and biblical counsel that turns good intentions into action. You'll get accountability, clarity, and a circle of brothers who will challenge you and cheer you on. We open up new options regularly so there's room to find the right fit. It's not always easy, but it is worth it. The first step is simple. Take the leadership mastermind assessment. No pressure, no hype, just thoughtful questions to help you see where you are, where God is leading you, and whether this is a good option for your next step. Hey, if it's a fit, we're gonna follow up with details. And if it's not, we'll point you to resources to help you keep growing. Either way, you move forward. So if you're ready to take the assessment, head over to the lionwithin.us slash mastermind. So that's thelionwithin.us slash mastermind to get moving today. Derek, you mentioned, you know, the work and effort and study that goes into putting a book to this magnitude together and a resource like this, and not to mention the the documentary that's gonna be coming out in September as well. So what was the most challenging part for you personally when when doing this work?
Derrick WarfelWell, you know, I I would say I enjoy teaching. God has given me some abilities there. And, you know, when I see a problem like this, that people are being deceived, I get motivated to do something about it. Uh you know, we started this film five years ago. I thought it was gonna be two years we have it out in public. Five years later, you know, finally we're getting it out there. And believe me, everybody on the film crew has been attacked. Because you know you're doing the right thing when you get spiritual opposition. I've had cancer. Uh, other people have had serious illnesses, another guy had his house completely flooded out. I mean, literally, we we've had opposition, you know, and I guess that also forces you to keep going. And it was like about two years ago, the other producer on the film said, Well, you know, why why don't you write a companion book to this film? And I thought, oh, okay, yeah, I could do it, maybe 60, 70 pages or something like that. And here I am 350 pages later. You know, I guess it's maybe the Dallas Seminary in me, and I can't let it go until I finish the subject. You know, so yeah, so it it was it was a lot of work, um, you know, but uh it was interesting, and I I just the thing that motivates me to keep going is basically to get the truth out there because there's nothing that irritates me more than lies. And uh, you know, basically the lies as a filmmaker, that's the same thing. I'll probably if I write another book, I've been thinking of writing another book called Media uh called Movie Manipulation, you know, because as a writer, as a filmmaker, I know all the tricks that filmmakers and writers use to get people to try to believe things they don't believe, you know, and uh I just want to make people aware of those. You know, forewarned is forearmed, basically. So that's yeah, I I don't know if that answers your question, but yeah, that's what what's the hardest part? I think it was just you know, continue to the footnotes were probably the hardest part. Because I because I wanted I wanted to footnote everything that I said so it wasn't just my opinion, you know.
Chris GraingerRight. And when you were doing your research and going through all the different accounts, what did d does one stand out that makes makes the hair on your arm stand up? I mean, when you when because I'm sure you've you've interviewed and talked to some just incredible witnesses and accounts. What's one or two that really just you impacted you profoundly?
Derrick WarfelI'd say the one is from the film, uh a guy called Jason December. Okay. Uh this is a guy who had been literally controlled by these beings. You know, uh they would constantly harass him, constantly be around him, and uh he just couldn't seem to get rid of it. And basically, as he started to look more to Jesus, they faded away. I mean, there's a scene in the film where basically uh he calls out to Jesus and he sees these demonic beings kind of behind the blinds in his house, and he calls out to Jesus and and he sees this vision of Jesus, and he sees these beings cringing back, you know, in a way. And and I mean it just visually was stunning. And the idea that you know eventually he looked back and the demonic beings were gone, you know, that that we serve a God who is more powerful. There is I there's one thing I'll mention is that Josh McDowell did a a uh a lecture series uh years ago, and it's online. You can rent it or you can see it, some of it's for free, uh, called The Authority of the Believer. And I encourage every believer to study that. I talk about it in the book, but basically what it is is he says, when we think Jesus rose from the dead, we go, okay, he rose from the dead, and now he has a new resurrection body. What we fail to notice is it also says at the end of Ephesians 1, he was then resurrected and seated, seated at the right hand of God, far above all rule, all authority, and every name that is named in this age and even in the age to come. That Jesus is above all, he says, all authority has been given to me in Matthew 28, all authority. And then it says in Ephesians 2, and we too, who are seated with Christ in the heavenly places, with the assumption that's far above all rule, all authority, every name that's named, literally, they are far more afraid of us than we are of him, because we're seated right behind our big brother Jesus, you know, uh above all authority in every name. And I guess that to me is one of the most motivating things to know that I do not have to fear. Um there was I don't I don't I don't think I've shared this once or twice in my life, but I'll mention it one more time. Is that, and I don't know if this is was a demonic attack or was something else, but I've never had it before or since. When I was in Rhode Island working with Campus Crusade, I was in bed and it was kind of the middle of the night, and I just started to feel like something was choking me, or at least I couldn't breathe. And uh and I I I couldn't stop it. I just like I couldn't breathe, and I don't know what it was, but I just remembered that that starting, I just said, Jesus, please help me. And all of a sudden I can breathe again. Now, was this what they just simply call sleep paralysis? You know, maybe it was. I don't know. But it's interesting that calling on Jesus' name made a difference for me. So was it a demonic attack? I don't know. But it, I gotta tell you, at that moment I felt like it was a demonic attack. Yeah. And so, you know, you don't need to fear. You can call out Jesus is there, whether it's simply a physical heart attack or whether it's a demonic attack. You know, and uh I'd say that is one of the most important things that I learned in this.
Lightning Round And Media Discernment
Chris GraingerWell, I mean, hats off to you. Wonderful job on it. Before we wrap up, we'd love to do a quick little lightning round with you, Derek, to have a little fun at the end. This is off topic, but we'll just have some fun. This should let the listeners get to know a little bit more about you. Uh, what do you want to know? All right, so favorite hobby. What do you enjoy doing for fun?
Derrick WarfelI like movies. I watch movies. I mean, I still do. I mean, I I I love the craft. I think it's uh one of the most effective ways to communicate that's ever been invented. And the thing that drives me nuts is that Christians aren't using it. Put your testimony online, put it up there. Can you imagine if people, if every Christian shared their personal testimony online, how that might change society's things. That's the least thing it can do.
Chris GraingerAmen. Well, what's your what's your go-to movie? What's your all-time favorite?
Derrick WarfelOh gosh. You know, that's I I get asked that. I don't know. You know, some of the some of my favorites are ones that are just with good craft. Okay. They're unfortunately not the ones that have the best message. But I like this one that came out recently with the Great Awakening, you know, with about uh Whitfield. I I thought that was a I mean, because this that's fascinated me a lot about spiritual revivals. You know, when things get so bad that nothing's gonna turn it around, and then you see God come in and just capture a whole generation, you know, like the Reformation. Uh something like that. I mean, literally, and there's been countless examples of that, or like in the Israel, ancient Israel, where they completely went off the rails, and then God raised up a judge or something like that, and they all turned back to God. Or like Nineveh, you know, which was such a society that's so far gone, and the preaching went out, and literally the whole society changed. It's when the Spirit of God moves, uh, that is something that's just a sight to behold, you know.
Chris GraingerAmen. It sounds like you spent a lot of time in Ephesians as well. What but what is your favorite book of the Bible?
Derrick WarfelYou know, I would probably say John, Gospel of John, because I mean that was the first thing I got as a Christian. And the little booklet of John, you know, I read it several times, and uh I've come back to it many times when I'm struggling. Um, you know, I mean, I I went through the period where I had, you know, lack of assurance of my faith, and I've just reading the book of for of John, the Gospel of John, you know, it's by faith. It's by faith, it's by faith, it's by faith. You know, then it's not, you know, did I say the prayer right? Did I do this right? Did I do I believe? Yes, I believe. Then you're saved, you know. Amen to that, brother.
Chris GraingerAmen to that. How about favorite food? What's your go-to meal, Derek? Nachos. Oh man, you were quick to the draw on that one.
Derrick WarfelYeah, it's it's comfort food that I probably shouldn't eat, but uh yeah, I know I I I've got a weakness for nachos.
Chris GraingerI hear you, bro. I hear you. That's well, we all we all have our weaknesses. That's okay. When you look back over to the last year, did you spend too much time doing any one thing there?
Derrick WarfelWell, probably not enough time praying, that's for sure. I need to pray more. Uh I mean, I you know, I probably need to read the Bible more. I did a lot of that. I, you know, I teach classes because it forces me back into the Bible. Uh what do I what do I do? I I uh, you know, working on this book, working on this film, it's just I can't keep doing this level of production at my age anymore. But uh what I'm trying to do now is find other young filmmakers who, you know, I can maybe see some of their projects and get it off the ground because uh they still have the energy. We helped start a film school in Uganda. Uh you know, that that motivates me to see others. And as I said before, 500 years ago, you know, the printing press was invented. And Christians were there. And the first couple books off the Bible off the press were the Bible and Pilgrim's Progress. Look at the influence that has made over the last 500 years. I spoke to a book and I group and I said, if the Lord tarries, I believe we're going to look back and say that this, this little thing here, is the next printing press. And it drives me nuts that as Christians, we're not using it. I mean, you can film yourself or film a story, you can edit the story, you can post it online so everybody in the world can see it, and we're not doing it. You know, the body you look at the Bible, and I went to Dallas and we studied expository preaching, you know, and analysis and everything. But the truth is the Bible is mostly stories. And we just need to tell stories, our personal story, how we came to Christ, but other stories, and we have this tool and the world is using it right and left, and we're not. And yeah. So that's what keeps me going. What's your favorite thing about God, Derek? Then he puts up with me, I guess. Then he listens to prayers, you know, that um when I stumble, he's there to lift me up again. I mean, I I there's that song I've heard on radio now. He's there when I fall, you know, he's there when I fall. Um, and I think that that is, and it's not necessarily fall in terms of a big thing like going to gross sin, but just bad thoughts, hurting people, you know, doing things, uh, maybe, you know, saying some things I probably shouldn't have thought over more. But but but but yeah, I I'd say that God's patience with me is probably the big thing because and I have to keep reminding myself of that, you know, that that um it catches me when I fall, it catches me when I fall, that song, you know. Amen. What's what's your least favorite thing about the uh the evil one? His his his lies. I mean, I hate lies. Uh there's there's a book out called The Fallacy Detective. I think every father should study it with his son because Satan is detective The Fallacy Detective by I think it's Bluehorn. I think he's a Christian. But I mean, just to study logical fallacies. Because, you know, when you become aware of that, you realize how you can be tricked. Um, you know, i i it's like I my eyes were opened when I went in seminary when we studied a book about logic and we talked about logical fallacies, and you see it politicians using it every day. People in the news using it every day, and you're there, I'm not gonna fall for that. You know, and Satan does the same thing. You know, it's like it's uh I mean the perfect example is the temptation of Eve. You know, uh he goes to Eve and he says, you know, here have this and well uh you know uh God said that you know we we're not supposed to eat or touch of any of the fruit. Well God didn't say anything about touching, and and and Satan said, Has God really said that? I think he just wants you to know, he doesn't want you to be as wise as he is, you know? And and it's like literally, I don't know if he used any tricks, but it said, you know, she saw it was good for food. One thing that I see from these aliens is that they're able to communicate telepathically. They're able to put thoughts in your mind. I don't know if they can read your mind, but they can put thoughts in your mind. And I think that's where a lot of temptation comes from. But it's basically, you know, she saw it was good for food. Well, that's true it is, but why did she think of that right then? And it was delight to the eyes. Maybe it sparkled, maybe there was something just very beautiful about it, and that it was desirable to make one wise, you know? Well, you're not really wise if you're rebelling against God. You know, that he lies, he's very good, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the boastful pride of life, tempting us with those three things. And we talk about that in the book, that that's where most most of our daily life, the spiritual warfare, lives, is that it it drives me nuts. I I studied I had a semester when I was at Dallas Seminary, going up to Richardson Hospital and sitting in and just as an intern observing uh the counseling sessions and the other things. Uh and the one thing I picked up is that these people, even with severe psychosis and depression, at some point they had believed a lie. That literally, if they could get that lie out of their mind, they could be free. And I see that just in counseling with regular Christians that I believe that most of the problems we have are because somewhere, if you go back and you figure out the temptations you keep falling into again and again and again, what is the lie that you have believed from Satan? And uh, you know, is it just so lies really motivate me just to stamp them out? Amen.
Chris GraingerYeah. Well, last question for you, Derek.
Final Warning, Resources, And Prayer
Chris GraingerWhat do you hope your listeners remember the most from our time together today?
Derrick WarfelWell, I would say that uh, you know, this is dangerous. Be aware of it. Uh, you know, walk in the spirit so that you're not fooled by it. Um because I believe it's going to be a coming temptation to say, well, we can't listen to the Bible. We need to listen to these beings. They know more about technology and life and everything else. So I would say just the main thing is just a clarion call to beware. Beware of who they are, beware of what they're saying, because they are not our friends. They are not our friends. You know, and uh they're not our space brothers, they're not our friends. They're not from another planet, they're from the domain of darkness.
Chris GraingerWell, where do you want to send the listeners as well, Derek, to get a copy of the book, to see the documentary, all that stuff.
Derrick WarfelWell, you can check in the documentary. It's coming out September 11th, UFOsandgod.com. And the and is spelled out, and UFOsandgod.com. And for the book, go to UFOsandgodbook.com. And you can see a trailer. Uh, you can pre-order the book uh from Barnes and Noble up there as well. Uh, you know, and there's a lot of freebies on both sites that you can go to. So, you know, you can browse there for free. And if you pick up the book, I think I tried to do a thorough job of answering the questions. Because there's a lot when you're covering this subject, there's a lot of questions. And I tried to answer most of them. As I said, I I gotta tell you, I am I admit that I don't know everything about this subject. That that the word occult means the hidden things. There's things that are hidden that we don't know and we probably aren't supposed to know. And Jesus says in Deuteronomy, or God says in Deuteronomy 29, 29, the things revealed belong to us and our children, but the things hidden belong to God. You know, there's things that God hasn't revealed to us, and we just need to be patient and move on. So uh, but yeah, but basically the idea is the book is there. I don't have all the answers. I tried to get as many as I could get, and at least warn people to stay away from this because it is dangerous, just like staying away from one of the cults or one of the other religions, you know, that promises you all kinds of things. You know, uh don't be deceived by it.
Chris GraingerAmen. Amen. Well, guys, go get a copy of the book, go check out the documentary, share that stuff out. Derek, anything else that you'd like to share today, sir?
Derrick WarfelMaybe just to pray. Lord, please protect everyone who's listening to this show for with Chris and open their eyes to not let them fall into this deception in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. Amen.
Chris GraingerDerek, thank you so much for your time today, sir. Okay, well, thank you for having me on. I appreciate it.
Question Of The Week And Next Steps
Chris GraingerAll right, guys. Hope you enjoyed that conversation with Derek. So thankful for him coming on and sharing. Question of the week this week is do you tend to test the truth or just chase distractions? And Derek talked about both of those, right? And obviously, we need to be, as Christian men, grounded in the truth. And we ultimately know where that truth comes from. That's from the word of God. And we know that by we getting into the word of God. So to be able to combat these things and be able to address them biblically, we need to spend time in the word so that when these things come up, we'll know what to do. Okay. So, anyway, as I mentioned uh at the beginning of the podcast, this is out. UFOs and God, the book, the documentary, all that stuff is live at this point. Go check it out for you guys that want to do a small group session heap and has a study guide. They're helping each other be the men that God intends them to be. And so if you're interested in in a leadership mastermind or learning more about that, all that can be found at thelionwithin.us. Okay. Uh finally, open up the Bible app, find the search for the Lion Within us there. You'll see all the plans. I literally just updated a plan this morning. So there's a plan on the Bible app where we're constantly I have a constant feed of writing that I'm doing for the Bible app because guys seem to be encouraged by the writing. So I'm just leaning into that. I'm doing it more and more. So we need you to read them, okay? You read them, share them, uh, do them with your buddies, all that fun stuff, guys. So just the Bible app, open it right up, find a lion within us right there. All right, guys. We'll see you next time. Give us a rating review if you don't mind. Sexual Integrity Support Group Invite
Chris GraingerIt's time to stop battling pornography, lust, and temptation alone. We're done sitting on the sidelines, seeing shame win, and hearing from guys that are fighting private wars with no backup. So we decided it's time to fight back. We have our sexual integrity support group, which is a confidential space inside the lion's den for men who are ready to step into the light and pursue real freedom. This isn't just for guys in crisis, by the way. It's for any man who's tired of the cycle, who's tired of living in secret, who's tired of saying this is gonna be the last time. Look, most guys don't need another app or some rules. They need some brothers to come alongside them to say you're not the only one. This doesn't define you. And freedom is possible. So look, inside our group, you're gonna find a confidential, judgment-free forum to engage and ask questions. You'll have honest conversations without condemnation. And you'll also have a monthly call with a trusted guide. So look, this isn't just about stopping pornography, it's about becoming a man of integrity, a man aligned, a man who lives in freedom, not secrecy. And you don't have to clean yourself up first to come. You just have to step in. So our sexual integrity support group is found inside the lion's den. And you can start that today with a 30 day free trial. So if you're ready to stop fighting alone and need that extra support, start your 30 day free trial right now at thelionwithin.us.
