The Lion Within Us - Leadership for Christian Men
Christian men are in a battle for their lives. Satan will do everything possible to destroy them. The Lion Within Us is a community that provides encouragement to become the leaders God intends us to be. Our main focus lies within three categories: Health (Mental/Physical), Wealth (Careers/Finances) and Self (Husbands/Fathers/Brothers in Christ). By sharpening these areas of our lives, we can find the strength needed to stand firm in our faith and unleash the Lion Within.

A guy doesn’t usually wake up one morning “different.” Change shows up when the small, faithful choices stack up: opening Scripture again, telling the truth to another man, praying when you would rather distract yourself, and learning how to lead at home without pretending you have it all together. That’s why Jeremiah’s story hit me so hard, because the people closest to him noticed something new and he could trace it back to one shift: consistent discipleship and brotherhood.
Come see us at the I'm Just a Guy Vision Men's Summit in Raleigh, North Carolina on October 10 and at The Camp For Men in Fall River, Kansas on October 23-25. To find out more and to register visit https://thelionwithin.us/events/
Most guys pretend they have it all together until life unexpectedly drops them flat on the mat. True strength begins when you swallow your pride, stop trying to walk alone, and finally admit you need backup. Welcome, Scripture, And The SKO
Chris GraingerWelcome to the line within us, a podcast serving Christian men who are hungry to be the leaders, God intends you to be. I'm your host, Chris Granger. Let's jump in. All right, guys, this is your member spotlight. But before you get to meet our awesome member, we got to look at our scripture of the week, and that's in Psalms 88, verse 12. It says, Will your wonders be made known in the darkness and your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness? Now, that verse, fellas, is a little bit complicated. So go back into SKO. I unpacked it at length. We had my buddy Seth Gruber on this week. We were talking about the last stand and everything about fighting back against the evil one and what we have to do from a Christian worldview today. So that verse right there really gives some insights into that conversation, that conversation with Seth. Hopefully you guys enjoyed that one. And uh don't forget, if you enjoy the SKO, we do it Monday through Friday, guys, at the Lion Within Us. It's called the Daily SKO. We do it every day. We also, with that, we give you guys access to our prayer request space. So we'd love to pray for you on a regular basis. Every Monday we have a prayer meeting. And then on top of all that, if you're in the continental U.S., we got a free gift we'd like to put in the mail for you. So thelionwithin.us is where you sign up for all that stuff. Okay, guys.
Meet Jeremiah And Montana Life
Chris GraingerAll right. Enough of that jazz. Let's get into the fun stuff while you guys are actually here. Not to hear me j jabber my jaws, but that's to actually meet our members. So, Jeremiah, what's going on, brother? How you doing today? Oh, not much, brother. How about you today? Well, just based off your background, I'm I'm I wish I was there and not here right now, you know.
Jeremiah KauffmanYeah, I figured I'd give you a little uh little taste different taste of my view sometimes out here, so in Montana.
Chris GraingerI hear you. So I mean, and I haven't been to Montana yet. It's on my bucket list. We got we gotta make that happen. So that's what we're working on that. So is the humid so what's the humidity like in Montana? Because it and here is is miserable.
Jeremiah KauffmanOh no, no, we don't we don't have much humidity here. There there's times when there is humidity, but nothing like yeah, nothing like uh the south or the east for sure when you get that. Um yeah, we we have a big lake here. Um I live let's say north of Flathead Lake, which is the largest freshwater west of the Mississippi. So it's smaller than the Great Lake, you know, the Great Salt Lake, but it's a salt lake. So nice, man. Definitely a difference there.
Chris GraingerSo that's cool, brother. That's cool. Well, I mean, I'm so blessed to have you on here, man. You've been, I mean, for I'm trying to remember even when we met. You're one of our founders. You you joined you joined when we founded the line within us. So, like, how did how do you even remember recall how you got connected with us?
Jeremiah KauffmanWow. Um, you know, I was I was thinking about that and trying to figure out. It's gotta be what, six years now? Are we going on six years? Five or six years?
Chris GraingerFive. Five. Coming up on five. Five when the podcast launched.
Jeremiah KauffmanYep. Okay, so I probably heard you on another podcast before that. Okay. And then that's when when you started the Lion Within podcast, I jumped in on that. Yep. Right. Yep. And then after that, we start you you started the Lions Den. Yeah. Yeah. And I really struggled with it because me being two hours different. So even now, I mean, you're what, 7 p.m. and I'm at like five. So yeah, two hours difference. I mean, and we're doing stuff early in the morning or late at night for you guys. So it depends, you know, really struggles. So um that that was my biggest hurdle, probably, of joining the line within, you know, of oh, how can I make this work? Right. Uh I am so glad I did though. Um because it was interesting, my uh my brother that passed away last oh a couple years ago now. Him and my sister that live close by, they both told me, they're like, uh, something's different about you. And this was probably a year and a half, maybe two years in. Really? And they're like, There's something different about you. I'm like, Well, I haven't changed anything except for the lion. The lion was the new thing in my life that I had changed. That's interesting. Oh, so for other people to see uh God working through the lion, through me, yeah, you know, is huge. That's awesome. Yeah, yeah, it's it's amazing when when people say that to you, you're like, hmm, what did I do differently? You know, what what is what is different in my life that has changed me? Right? Right, right.
Chris GraingerMan, that's great. That's great.
Jeremiah KauffmanYeah, no, it's crazy. It's really crazy to think about that. Uh it boggles my mind about that when you know, for people to say for them to say that. So um yeah, but it's been good though. That's cool.
Growing Up Around Many Churches
Chris GraingerYeah. I mean, what what was like your your whole discipleship journey anyway? Did you come to Christ as a kid? Did you come to it later in life? Like what did that look like?
Jeremiah KauffmanYeah, that's a good question. You know, um, I was raised in a Christian family, so my dad was actually a logger for years and the Montana area? Yes, yep. Yeah, okay. Yep, yep, in Montana. I have I have lived so okay, so backstory there. I've lived outside of Montana. Let's see, out of my life, probably all but not not six years I've been in Montana.
Chris GraingerOkay, wow.
Jeremiah KauffmanIt's really home then. Yeah, yeah, it is home. Yeah, the joke is uh I actually am married. I've been married for 32 see if the wife gets in trouble here, uh, or I get in trouble for this. Thirty-two years? Yes. Nice thirty-two years. I joke that I had to leave and come back to find the right one. Okay, all right. Yeah, it's good stuff there. Uh so my life, yeah, my my walk with Christ, like I said, my dad was a logger. He fell a tree and a tree hit him and basically busted his hip right out of the socket. Um, so it took him out of it took him out of the woods, you know. Yeah, yeah. Uh that's when I was in, probably, oh, let's see, seventh, eighth grade, you know. So uh, but we always went to church. I mean Okay. Always went to church. So that was kind of a staple for you guys. Yes, yeah. Yeah. Which is yeah, that could be a whole another story for sure. So, but then he became he actually became a pastor of a little non-denominational church.
Chris GraingerReally?
Jeremiah KauffmanYeah. Okay, I didn't know this part. Okay. Yeah, which is sort of cool. So that was interesting. I so I went with him. I mean, it was it was one of those things that we get there in the morning on Sunday mornings in the winter and start the fire to get it warm enough for everybody else to show up. That's so we got there an hour before or so to you know to have to warm the church up, you know.
Chris GraingerLike a sanctuary, a little where they put a wood heater in it.
Jeremiah KauffmanYep, just a wood stove in the corner. Yeah, wood stove at one end. Oh yeah. It didn't it didn't even have it had a kitchen, but no running water, no, nothing like that. It was just a little community church. I think we had oh 15 people, 20 was probably maxing it out, you know. Big day, right? Big day. Yeah, a big day. Yeah, yeah, when you had everybody there, yeah, for sure. But that's so it's interesting. So so in my life, yeah, it was sort of a staple of yeah, you always went to church. Sunday you go to church.
Chris GraingerYeah.
Jeremiah KauffmanYou know, it doesn't matter. I and then went to so I mean, do you do you become a Christian then, you know, just because you go to church? Well, we both know that ain't true. That's right. You know, that's it's and it's interesting because it did give me a different perspective with the non-denominational church. Yeah. Um growing up and I hadn't thought about this until later in life, but growing up, we went to assemblies of God, we went to Pentecostal church, we went to Baptist Church, you know, and then dad pastored the non-denominational church. It made me think, it's like you know, it's not about a denomination. It's about a relationship. Yes. Anybody can have a religion. Right. Come on, I mean, to an alcoholic, that's that's his religion. To a drug addict, that's his religion, right? You know, but what we have is a relationship. Right. You know, that's right. That is so much, so much better than any religion can ever be. Right. 100%, man. So yeah, so I mean we went, I remember going to a Bible camp. I loved Bible camp. Uh when I was in my teenage years and stuff, and younger. And you always get to that camp high, you know, it's oh yes, you know, every storm, a gaze of hell with a crucifix and a super soaker, bro.
Chris GraingerLike, let's go.
Jeremiah KauffmanThat's right. Exactly. Loved it. Um, and I still I still enjoy those times. I have fond memories of those times. And there was times I remember times that I I know God spoke into my life more. Um like I said, we've been I wife and I have been married for 32 years. Um give you an idea. We did not get married in Montana,
Teen Marriage And God’s Grace
Jeremiah Kauffmanthough. Really? Where did you get married at? We got married in Fernie, B.C. Fernie, B.C. Yeah. So we went north of the border to get married. I'm sure there's a story there. Oh, there is, yes. Um, but yeah, well, she was pregnant, so and uh my parents and her parents were in agreement that I get married. But I was 19, she was 16. Oh wow, okay. And it is just by the grace of God that we've been together this long. Because he's awesome. I mean, yeah, because we all do stuff. I mean, uh, marriage is not easy by any means. And and when your kids growing up still, it's makes it tough. Right. You know, but God is good. Yeah, I mean, uh many kids have you had. We have four kids. Yeah, four.
Chris GraingerI mean, the guys listen to the show know Cameron because he's been home.
Jeremiah KauffmanSo I'm so Cameron is my oldest son, yep. Okay. Um, I then I have three daughters. Okay.
Chris GraingerSo you split me. I got three girls and then the boy, you got the boy and then the three. Okay. Right.
Jeremiah KauffmanWell, see, that's see, that's where your thing is. See, I told the wife right from the beginning, I'm like, okay, we gotta get this straight because I need to have a boy first. Okay. So if something happens to me, he has to take over, right? He has to be the oldest. Yeah. Well, yeah, that's what I got. I got a boy first, and then God bless me with three girls. There you go.
Chris GraingerWe got a pretty awesome boy though. We love Cameron, man.
Jeremiah KauffmanYeah, Cameron's uh it's amazing. I love uh to watch him grow. Yeah, I I I pushed him a little bit to get into the lion also. It's like, come on, dude, I will pay for your first year. Do it, let's go, you know. And he is he has eaten it up. I mean, he has jumped in both feet. Yeah, he's really leaned in. Yeah, for sure. He has he has done that and really uh taken it to heart. So it's so yeah, so I am blessed with four kids, like I said, one boy, three girls. I have uh six grandchildren that I am blessed with. Nice. I got uh four girls and two boys. Okay.
Chris GraingerAnd uh is everybody in Montana still? I know Cameron's, but everybody else too.
Jeremiah KauffmanYep, yeah, okay. Everybody is back in Montana, yes. Okay. Yeah. My youngest um decided out of high school. She'll be twenty. Oh, she turned for twenty-four this year. Okay. So she decided out of high school that she wanted to she f she met a friend and moved to Michigan for a while. Okay. Yeah. I actually went out oh earlier this spring and she was ready to come back home. And so that's right.
Chris GraingerI remember you taking that trip. That's right. Yeah, yeah.
Jeremiah KauffmanThat was yeah, that was awesome. Yeah, that's a that's a good story too. That's a good story too. Um but that yeah, that's that's part of my life. But yeah, not to I mean, this is a member spotlight, so I'll go back to me. Um so I can look back and see how God worked through my life many times. Right. Right. And that's why they say hindsight is 2020 for sure.
Chris GraingerOh yeah.
Jeremiah KauffmanFor sure, man. You know, every time. So we uh the house that I grew up in was actually forty-five miles from the largest town from Kalispell. So not very easy to get in trouble, but yeah, I'm gonna get I'm good at gonna good at getting in trouble. They can find you, huh? Oh boy, yeah, yeah, for sure. That is for sure. Um, but after we got married, um there was times where we would go, we did went to church. My wife was I was blessed with a wife that was raised in church too. Um her her family story or her parents' story is a little different than mine. Mine stayed together until they were married for oh man uh a long time. And then they actually got divorced when they were older, which is which was a little crazy, didn't didn't ever make sense to me, but I think there's a lot of uh a lot of reasons why, you know when when husbands and wife don't work together all the time and then like with when dad had his accident and had to be home all the time, right? That's a different stress on a marriage. Oh yeah, yeah. I did have then dad had heart problems, which puts a whole nother stress on the marriage. Yeah. So yeah.
Chris GraingerSo I mean working working with your spouse, and then that that's a test right there, brother.
Jeremiah KauffmanYes, it is. I I have great respect for men and women, spouses that work together all the time and live together. Yeah.
Chris GraingerYou know, we're gonna be able to do that. We're struggling, I mean, we don't struggle with it, but we're we're figuring it out, man. Because I mean we both work out of the house, but on the farm, we're working together, so there's there's no surprises, man. We just we live each other with each other, so it's just we have to work on it in different ways, you know.
Jeremiah KauffmanYeah, yeah. Uh, and I've been there. Uh uh
Seeing The Ministry Multiply
Jeremiah Kauffmanthe the farm is beautiful. Yeah, thanks, brother. Yeah. Oh man, I have uh uh that's another, yeah, because when we were out there, Cameron and I got a chance to come to um this year back out to uh reclaiming the wild. Yep. Yeah, which was awesome to come out there again. It was and then I was actually at the first one, if I remember correctly.
Chris GraingerYou were at the very first one, and we didn't even have the farm then, man. And that's when we did it at at the lake, and it rained. I don't know if you remember, but it had a ton of rain, but we man, we made it work and had a great time.
Jeremiah KauffmanIt was it was amazing. Yeah, it actually you just had you just got the farm at that time. I don't remember.
Chris GraingerI remember coming back to the farm. That's right. We did swing back by afterwards. I forgot all about so we had just moved there, I believe.
Jeremiah KauffmanYou had just yeah, just like the month before, if that yeah, yeah, and I was actually telling Becca that uh being there this year compared to whatever that was four years ago, yeah, three or four years ago, right? Oh, just just the way it's changed, you know, what what you've guys done and when we when I was there before and just talking to you and Becca about the visions that you guys had for it, and just seeing that come to fruition now. Yeah. It's been a journey, man. It's been a journey, that's for sure. Yeah, it's been a good guy with it too. I mean, I can I can see that for sure. Well, his hands all over it, you know. He is, yeah, and just what he's done with the lion, too. The amount of men that we had there this last year. Oh, yeah, man.
Chris GraingerWe were at 80-something dudes there. I mean, it was crazy. It was crazy. And the first time we had what, we had 10, maybe? Like maybe 10, you know, if we're being if we're being generous, you know. Yeah, if we're if we're pushing the boundaries. But we had a good time, though, man. Oh yeah. It was that's it, though. I mean, for me, it's like the numbers are the numbers, man. We're just gonna serve and we'll have a good time no matter who shows up, you know?
Jeremiah KauffmanYeah, no, that is that is for sure. Yeah, you try to compare the first time to this last time. It's numbers don't don't do justice for because God can work with anybody.
Chris GraingerBro, and like right now, I mean, when this is for the when this episode's coming out, it's gonna be right on the heels of of what we our our West Coast event. So we uh this is gonna come out in the first of October, but we gotta at and then of September, man, we're gonna be in Utah. I mean, what that's God stuff, bro. Like, I you know, there's no way we I can figure this stuff out. So it's just like, I mean, all right, let's go and do it, you know.
Jeremiah KauffmanNo, that and I s uh I saw uh to tell you the truth, I actually seen that. I seen the God not I would say dividing the lion, but it's not a division. Right. But I guess it goes back to what we talked about before, the timeline, you know. Yeah, yeah. You know, but God's gonna use and just grow the lion, and that's what he's doing with hey, all right, now we got a West Coast. Okay, guys. What's what's your excuse to not come? That's right. That's right. You know, and I I'll call out the guys that are over in this area. Come on, guys. Yeah. Yeah. You know, I can fly to North Carolina, right? Yeah, yeah. And then drive you know an hour to your place, you know, right? It's like, come on, guys. No, it's worth it. Yeah, put this right, Matt. I am so on that, I am working on I'm trying to work that out to get down there. So I'm calling out myself too. So Amen, bro.
Chris GraingerWe'll have a great time there for sure.
Jeremiah KauffmanOh, yeah. No, the way, yeah, the way God has orchestrated that is amazing.
Chris GraingerYeah. Yeah. It's cool, man. It's cool. I mean, it's just really neat to see his hand on so many from the Bible app to all just all the things and the tentacles and you know, the Duck Dynasty dude. Like, are you kidding me, bro? Like, so it's just like, all right, let's go. Yeah.
Jeremiah KauffmanYeah. So like I said, I wouldn't call it a division, but he's expanding. Let's say that. Yeah. Right. 100%. He's expanding. Because how many, I mean, we got guys, we got a guy in the SKO that's overseas, right? Serving. Oh, yeah, we got guys uh Australia, Africa.
Chris GraingerAustralia, Africa, you know, England. So I mean it at this point, we're on every continent. I don't think we're in in Antarctica yet, but everywhere else we got it covered. Yeah, let's go.
Jeremiah KauffmanRight? Let's go. So, yeah, no, God is good.
Chris GraingerUm it has been cool, man. But you even jump and you even jumped into like some of our mastermind
Masterminds And No-Condemnation Support
Chris Graingergroups now, too. So you got that going on, man.
Jeremiah KauffmanWell, yeah, no, I was yeah, the guys, I think uh well, being a founder, I mean, I'm gonna toot my toe horn a little bit here, you know, but yeah, yeah. Um yeah, looking back. And that the guys that were that were in that mastermind. I mean, just just solid guys, you know, that I even today I could call upon them. You know. 100%. And they're there. You know, no hesitation. You know, and to uh to meet Lucas, you know, back he got to North Carolina this last time, which is awesome. Yeah. That's right. You know, and he's sort of heading up this stuff in Utah, which is awesome. He is. You know, just uh right hand for you out on this side. Yep, that's right. Which is awesome, you know, just the way God's working. But those guys, yeah, we were we were sort of the guinea pigs, you know. Yeah. Uh to try to figure it out. And it was it was rough, tell you the truth. It was rough. Yeah.
Chris GraingerIt definitely wasn't been smooth, that's for sure.
Jeremiah KauffmanBut it was good. You know, it was really good. Just to and I tell this to other guys too, one of the biggest things is Satan's lies to us is Chris, you're the only one going through that. Right. That's right. Jeremiah, you're the only one going through that, right? Which is not true. Not at all. You know, you speak to any of the guys in the lion, you know, and they're like, yo, I'm I am struggling with this. They're like, dude, I'm right there with you. You know, I thought I was the only one that did struggled with that. What you know, what's going on? Like, no, what? You know, and I think every guy would say that too. I agree. I've seen it.
Chris GraingerSeen it firsthand. And that's the cool part about it, is like zero condemnation. Like, I and I think if we if anybody ever brought that, we would bounce them so fast, they wouldn't know, like they would they wouldn't know what hit them, you know. But we just we just we don't see that, man. It's just like guys are just like, yeah, I'm I'm right there with you, bro. You know?
Jeremiah KauffmanYeah. Well, yeah, that that's so true. Um, no, the way that, yeah, like I said earlier, the lion has just worked through my life so many ways. Uh the mastermind was amazing. The first one was I struggled with some of the other ones. Oh man, we went through we went through some hard patches there. We're like, hey, let's let's try this one. It's like, ah, it just doesn't, it just didn't feel right. You know, and I wasn't sure if it was just me because I was in the other one and I didn't feel I felt the connection with the guys, but it wasn't quite there. Right. You know? Yeah. I'm like, okay. Um and the the the re uh revised, you know, the mastermind we got going on now. Uh I'm I jump back in with that again too, which is good. So I'm back in with uh with good old Stephen Morris, you know. He's actually one of the OGs too, so you know, back in the back in the original one. So to and I have talked to him personally on the phone. I was he was going through something one time, and he'd like put in our text, he's like, guys, I need to talk to me. And I'm like, boom, called him. Oh yeah.
Chris GraingerNo, that's the way he is, man. And the cool part is like, and he's the leader, and you would think like as a leader, you don't want to show it, but like we all show. I put this stuff out all the time. Stuff I'm struggling with. There's no such thing as like these unspoken prayer requests crap, man. We just we we're here for each other, and I think there's so much power in it.
Jeremiah KauffmanOh yeah. And then there was a time where I needed to talk, I I text him, I'm like, yo, hey, yeah, I need your help out. I got I need some advice here. He's like, yo, call me. Yep. Okay. You know, when we speak for an hour or so, you know, just like I here it is. It's so cool, man. Yeah. But oh yeah, there's I I can't say enough of what the lion has done for me and what I've seen do in other people's lives.
Chris GraingerRight. Right. You know, just God working through it. That's so cool, bro.
Jeremiah KauffmanIt's all him. I mean, I can't do I can't do it. I have I have tried to ruin my life so
Daily Bible Habit That Sticks
Jeremiah Kauffmanmany times with stuff. Um, and God just keeps picking me out of the gutter and said, Come on. That's right, let's go. Ain't done with you yet. Yep, let's go. You you ain't done.
Chris GraingerLet's um I even know you pop on a lot of the uh the daily SKOs, man, which is cool because I mean you're a founder, you've been around for a long time, you think you get tired of hearing it, but I mean, all we do is read God's word every day, and guys seem to just be so encouraged by that.
Jeremiah KauffmanOh yeah, yeah. No, uh, the daily SKOs are awesome. Yeah, you know, hop on when I mean I sometimes I miss it. You know, it's it's a challenge to me. It's like, okay, I'm gonna be the first one. Yeah. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But there you go. It's like, come on, notifications, you know. And then I'm like, oh, it's time. It's like two minutes past. He's already talking. It's like, oh, you know, but I always jump when I jump in, let's go. Let's go, let's go, let's go.
Chris GraingerWhen you come on, I'm always looking for that let's go in the chat. I'm like, all right, here we go. Yep, here we go. Let's go. What's we started that thing, man? It was like three guys or four guys, and now we have 30 or 40 dudes. We've had it up to 50, close to 60 one.
Jeremiah KauffmanI was gonna say that one day, I think we were yeah, we were pushing 60. Oh, yeah.
Chris GraingerSo it's like, all right, let's go. God's God's doing something. So literally just read through the Bible verse by verse. There's nothing fancy to it, but yeah, I mean, guys love it, man.
Jeremiah KauffmanYeah, no, and I I uh the way God's working through you, Chris, is just amazing. You know, it's like, hey, what's the what's the there for? Yeah, right? Yeah, yeah. You know, and what was the uh what was the other one? Uh truly, truly, right?
Chris GraingerOh yeah. Amen, amen. I mean, amen, amen. Let's go. You know, simplify. I mean, to me, it's just simplify and apply it. And like I just think that's that's the big thing. Like, guys are just looking to how do you all right, how can I make make this make sense for me today? And that's the way I try to approach it every day, man. Exactly. Yeah. You know. Like I was telling one of the ladies we're talking with with one of the platforms we're working on, and I was like, you know, you got John Piper and all these top-level theologians, then you got then you got Beverly, you know, Jed Clampett from the Beverly Hillbillies. And I'm a whole lot closer to Jed than John, and I think that's what guys like, man. You know, or she was just falling out laughing.
Jeremiah KauffmanOh, I bet that's awesome. No, that's awesome. No, that is awesome. Yeah. No, the daily SKO is a good way to kick off your day. For sure.
Chris GraingerWell, I appreciate that, man. I I always tell guys, it's a whole lot better than any of that junk you get from Starbucks. So, like, hop on in that, you know. Get a good boost.
Jeremiah KauffmanYeah, my my normal thing is I have my coffee and I'm on my way to work when I catch up. There you go. There you go. It's either that I'm on my way driving to work or at work. So yeah, when you pop on that. So I'm like, okay. And uh cell service could be spotty sometimes, so that might be. I'll blame that on why I'm not always first in there.
Chris GraingerSo you know, if I was to ask, if I was to get a chance to have a conversation with your wife, what do you think she would say about what's you know, the the impact the lions had on you, man? Oh wow. Um that's a good question. I she would probably say the same. I mean, just uh just drawing me closer for sure. Okay. Yeah. More focused.
Jeremiah KauffmanYou know, which I which I'm working on. It's a it's a struggle every day. Some days are better than others for sure. But that's for all of us, brother. Yeah, I'm gonna have to ask her that now too. I say, hey, yeah, what what do you think the Lions done for me? Yeah.
Chris GraingerYeah. I mean and I mean to the point like you brought your son in, man. I mean, I still can't get over that because Cameron's one of my closest boys now. But like you brought him in and and just seeing how it seems to be helping him as well and just being an aid for him. So it's just really cool to see a father and son uh that are leaning in the way you guys are.
Jeremiah KauffmanYeah, that was awesome coming out with the coming out there this last year, uh earlier this year too. I was thinking about it, I was like, man, I think this is our first big trip since he's been an adult.
Chris GraingerRight.
Jeremiah KauffmanYou know, I mean we went camp, we went camping all the time. I taught uh at our church, we did Royal Rangers for a while. Oh yeah, nice. Quite a while, actually, for years. I was I was one of the lead guys uh and the senior patrol guide at one time. Or senior commander, sorry, and then he was yeah, he went through all that. Nice. So uh we would go to Ranger Mountain, what we call here in Montana, where the Rangers own, oh, it's like 35 acres or so and then in Montana. So yeah, they have a big camp over there and stuff. Nice. Uh yeah, it was good. It was really good. But yeah, just to see just to see God working through him, you know, through the through the lion and with everything. But that trip was like, well, this is pretty cool. Yeah, let's set up a tent like we used to. Uh I am not young enough to lay on that ground though. We uh yeah, I think it was uh Jeff and I, Jeff Dunn and I went to headed out to Walmart. We're like, dude, I need I need a mattress. Like, yeah, I do too. So let's go, you know, let's get out there and get one. So there you go. Yeah. That was a that was a side trip there. But it was a good time to to yeah. I had never, you know, we just met Jeff there too. So it's like I knew he was part of it, but yeah, just just connecting with him, you know, even on that drive was amazing. Yeah. You know, it was a good time, for sure. 100%, man. But the yeah, the masterminds have been just amazing, you know, for me, you know, Daily SKO, the masterminds, just all of it, you know. So cool, man. Just the way, yeah, God works through everything, for sure.
What Are You Waiting For?
Chris GraingerThere may be somebody listening, Jeremiah, who like they haven't taken a step uh a step with this yet, join a daily SKU or hopped in the den. Like, what would be your message to that guy?
Jeremiah KauffmanWhat are you waiting for? Why why not?
Chris GraingerYou know?
Jeremiah KauffmanYeah. I mean you the the worst question is never ask. Amen. Right. So how do you know something doesn't fit for you if you don't try?
Chris GraingerRight. Right. Right? So hop on. Try it out. You know? We got we we got a free month, right? Oh yeah.
Jeremiah KauffmanYeah. That's right. You got a month, you know. Masterminds are a little different, you know. You might have to commit a little bit better to that, but you know, I'm sure there's a daily SKO is free.
Chris GraingerI mean we're not gonna be able to do that.
Jeremiah KauffmanDaily SKO, there's do you have no excuse not to not to try the daily SKO. That's right. Just check it out, you know. That's right. You know, there's no reason not to really, besides you don't want to, I guess.
Chris GraingerYeah, that's right.
Jeremiah KauffmanThat's right. Right. So uh the only the other saying is you can say is uh you only put you only do what is a priority. Amen to that. What's a what's in that's everything we have to say is what's a priority in your life, you know.
Your Body As A Temple
Chris GraingerThat's right.
Jeremiah KauffmanWell that's you going back to Cameron a little bit. I mean, he is he is really focused on working out, eating better, and stuff like that.
Chris GraingerYeah, and he's come a long way so fast.
Jeremiah KauffmanOh wow, yeah. And part of that is uh and I think he told me he's like well, and I seen it somewhere else, was what is our body? Our body's a temple, right?
Chris GraingerRight. So why wouldn't you take care of it?
Jeremiah KauffmanThat's right. You know, and that that hit me pretty hard because I was actually, oh, let's see, I haven't been going to the gym probably for six months at least. Hardcore. A little over ye probably over a year now. Right. I had a I had a good friend that we we went, I mean, he sort of asked me, he's like, hey, what time do you go to the gym? Because I had a gym membership. I had never did the gym, you know, because I I was a farm kid, I was a ranch kid, you know. I worked out throwing hay bales, you know. Why I'm not gonna I didn't play sports, I mean played sports in grade school, you know, basketball and stuff, but right I didn't know what it was to be in the gym. So I had a personal trainer for a while. It did great because it was it it it opened my eyes up to a lot of stuff. Okay, this is how you do stuff, you know. Oh yeah, right instead of doing it wrong. And then I had a good friend that we went pretty consistently for quite a while early in the morning. I we actually went before I went to work, so we we hit the gym a little after 5 a.m.
Chris Graingermy time getting after it, yeah.
Jeremiah KauffmanYeah. But it set up a good day, you know. But uh life happened, um and it didn't it just didn't work out. So he he tried to implode his life, I guess I could say, you know, which is not my story to tell, so I'm not gonna say it of what he did. So I just pray for him. So uh it hurt hard. It hurt though. It did hurt, you know, to lose a good friend like that. Makes it tough, man. Sure. Yeah, so I start I tried to keep going, and then I just started paying for my membership for me not going to just donating. So it's like, okay, nope, I'm done doing that. So but yeah, Cameron got hard into it, and then yeah, working out and eating right and stuff, and then we got to talking on the way back. We're like, hey, what okay, I'm older than you. What can we do together? Yeah, you know, to do stuff together. So uh yeah, so we got into we we know one of the local taekwondo guys, because his son, my grandson, actually does taekwondo. Oh nice, and they also teach Krav Maga. Oh, there you go. So, which is we've been doing it now for four weeks, twice a week. Oh wow, yeah. So we're doing that together, which is awesome. Yeah, it's like, whew, yeah, after not working out for a while, I'm I'm a little sore. Oh, yeah, man. That is yeah, that gets the heart race russin. Go. Yeah. But it's been good. Yeah, we we started doing that. I'm trying to eat better. My wife has been a big encouragement for that. She's always she's normally up in the morning working out, you know. Um, she always she cooks most of the food, so we always eat pretty healthy. Right. You know, which is a big thing too. You can never outwork what you eat. Man, you'll never out exercise the fork, bro. Oh, I mean yeah. No, that is for sure. That is for sure.
Chris GraingerWell, man, you've been I I just want to say, you know, publicly, thank you for all the support. Everything, just it's a it's a blessing to have you in the line, that's for sure, man. It's been you've made us better over the years. You put up with a lot as well as we try to figure out stuff as we come along. Yeah.
Jeremiah KauffmanYeah, it was it was like we said, it was a struggle sometimes, but I think it's it it feels back on the right track. Definitely, because uh I was talking to, I think it was Cameron for sure. I'm like, yeah, this mastermind feels a little better. It feels like really excuse me, what we did originally.
Chris GraingerSo yeah, right. Yeah, I mean, we really put a lot of effort trying to get that thing, get the get the train back on the tracks, and I feel like we're in a really good spot now, and groups are filling up left and right, so that's that's that's a good indicator that we're doing something right, man. So it's yeah, and you got more people. You we added another one, right? Yeah, we got right now, we got uh five groups going, so it's pretty cool. It's pretty cool. Awesome.
Jeremiah KauffmanSo that's amazing. No, they are uh when you do that. Was one of the things I think at the Reclaiming the Wild this last spring, yeah. Where we had yeah, we had like 80 guys, and some of those guys, well, that group that group with the boys came from Florida, right? Yeah, that was pretty neat.
Chris GraingerThat was really cool.
Jeremiah KauffmanWow. You know, just the way God worked that whole thing, and then uh just a lot, I guess a little insight for the viewers, it's we got into we got divided into three groups, and then we we have sort of a you know, hey, let's talk about this, you know. Um, and to hear some of those boys speak about what they've gone through, what they've gone through, what they're dealing with.
Chris GraingerYeah.
Jeremiah KauffmanAnd I was telling some of the other guys, I'm like, you know what? We still deal with that as men. It doesn't change.
Chris GraingerIt doesn't go away, man. Just no you think it would with birthday candles, but it doesn't.
Jeremiah KauffmanNo, no, it doesn't. No, it's crazy. It's like, yeah, just the way, and I think those those young men definitely went away changed.
Chris GraingerThey did. They did. I've heard I've actually got emails from a couple of those guys since it's been it's been pretty neat, just this just the respectfulness and just them saying thank you and how how much it meant that weekend meant to them. So it's been really cool.
Jeremiah KauffmanYeah.
Chris GraingerWe got a little rain that weekend too. But I want a little shower. But just since that shower, we didn't have anything hadn't had anything for like a couple months. Boy.
Jeremiah KauffmanOh, right. Yeah, you're probably a little dry out there again. We got a little rain here yesterday and now it's oh 80 something. So there you go. Yeah, no, the lion and definitely every part of it has been a big big impact on my life. For sure.
Chris GraingerWell, you've been a big impact on mine as well, man. So thank you for just taking the time. I it took me a while to get you nailed down to do this, but I knew we'd have a lot of fun. I knew we'd have a good time when we would when we did it, though. Yeah, no, for sure.
Jeremiah KauffmanI appreciate it.
Chris GraingerSo cool, brother.
Jeremiah KauffmanIt's been good. Well, look, before every part of it's been good.
Book Pick, Dad Jokes, And Distractions
Chris GraingerWell, man, thank you so much. And before I let you go, dude, uh, so our book of the week is you you would you and camera need to get this one. It's called it's called The Last Stand. I don't have it because I think Becca took it, so I gotta talk to her anyway. So she took it. I couldn't find it. I'm like, so she must have it. She's read sometimes. She reads them when she's when when they look interesting. But this guy, uh Seth Gruber, wrote it. So Seth's been on the show before. Yeah. He he w he wrote the 1916 project, and that was about uh Planned Parenthood. And he just basically just exposed all the the demonic forces behind Planned Parenthood. Well, he wrote this book called The Last Stand, and he did a documentary. So that so when this thing's out now, when this podcast is live, you guys can go out there and listen to it. You can you can actually go. I think I think you can get it on Daily Wire, and there's some other places you can probably find it. But just search for the last stand, get the book, it's awesome. Uh, and and like I said, you'll you would love anything Seth puts out. When Seth reaches out to me, he's got my number, he texts me when he he's when he re reaches out that he wants to come on. I'm always like, all right, let's just make it happen. Like he's just he's that good, you know. And then I got two dad jokes to run by you that Doug gave me, man. So I want to see what dad jokes you like, okay? So the first one is speaking about going to the gyms, this is this is like this is from God right here. So why why do you know why cheddar cheese goes to the gym, Jeremiah? To get shredded, bro. Of course. Of course, of course he would. There you go. So that's the first one from old ducks. And the second one uh is a lot of hot dogs like to go to barbecues. I don't know. Man, well, because they relished a good time.
Jeremiah KauffmanRelished the good time. So which one, man? Which one did you? Oh boy. Well, I think with uh the stage of life right now, I might have to go with the cheese one. You gotta get shredded. Gotta get shredded, man. Yeah. It's it's a little harder as you get older, though, too. Oh, bro. Shredding takes a little harder.
Chris GraingerOh man, dog is our. He's our dad joke king. So, man, thank you, Doug, for always for sending those dad jokes in. Let us know which one you like, guys. And we put these dad jokes in the lion's end every Friday, and then you can vote on them, and then you can pick on the guys who vote wrong. So I highly encourage the picking. You know, it's okay. We we're we're pro-picking uh on the wrong dad joke, but anyway, I kid because I care. But uh the question the question of week, guys, is what distractions are causing you to forget God's faithfulness today. So I don't know what distractions you got in your way, but we have the evil ones doing all he can to throw those little flaming arrows at us and to keep us distracted. And look, if he can't uh if he can't throw us off completely, what he will do is keep us busy. And we just gotta be careful, man. We've got to be careful to stuff we say yes to because maybe we're we're missing an opportunity to say yes to something God is calling us to. So anyway, fellas, Jeremiah, it's been a blast, bro. Anything else you want to share before we hop before we hop up off today?
Jeremiah KauffmanNo, just like you said, yeah, don't be too busy. You know, we've talked about that before, too. Be busy, being under Satan's yoke, it's just being busy for sure. And make it yeah, make it make God a priority in your life. Amen to that. Amen. Yeah, and there's a lot of support with the lion right there. There's so many guys that'll lift you up, you know. You got that right down.
Chris GraingerSo well, brother, I can't wait to see you again. I'm looking forward to coming to Montana, and man, it's it's always awesome hanging out with you. So thank you for your time today, man. Thank you. All right, guys, give us the rating and review, the lionwithin.us, all the stuff Jeremiah talked about from a daily SKO, the Lions Den, the Mastermind. Actually, you can go to the lionwithin.us slash events. We got the events up now, fellas. We got the 2027 reclaiming the wild, the dates are out there, so you can register right now. We got all that stuff, it's live right now, fellas. Go check it out. Have a great day. Keep coming back, and uh, you know it's coming right, guys. Keep unleashing the lion within.
