A hobby. A journal. A joke between friends. That is how Joe Daly’s story starts, but it’s not where it ends. Joe went from corporate work to a decade on church staff, then watched a handcrafted leather goods side hustle grow into Daily Goods, a Texas-based company built around quality, meaningful jobs, and what he calls “irresponsible generosity.” Along the way, he learned that the real battle is not just building a business, it’s stewarding a heart.

Scripture And Daily SKO Invite

Chris Grainger

Welcome to the Lion Within Us, a podcast serving Christian men. Whoever hunger to be the leaders, God intends you to be. I'm your host, Chris Granger. Let's jump in. All right, guys, it's your meat episode. Let's get right into it. Okay. So the scripture of the week this week is Acts 20, verse 35. It says, In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work, we must help the weak. Remembering the words of the Lord Jesus Himself said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. Love that verse right there, fellas. We took some time. We unpacked that in our spiritual kickoff episode. So if you just go back one in your podcast feed, you'll see it right there. Hopefully you'll be encouraged by that. It's all about simplifying and applying God's word into your life. Again, we do this Monday through Friday at the Lion Within Us. It's called the Daily SKO, Spiritual Kickoff. Get it? So look, guys, go sign up for it. It's free. It's our way to encourage you. It gives you access to our daily SKO. That happens every morning, Monday through Friday. If you can't make the live feed, don't worry. We have the we put the videos in the forum for you. It also gives you access to our prayer request space where we have a prayer call every Monday. We'd love to pray for you. Let us know how we can be lifting up, be intentional about that. And if you're in a continental U.S., we got a free gift we want to give you. So just go sign up. You'll get the link. Give us your address, where you want that gift sent, and we will get that in the mail for you. Okay. All right, guys. This is going to be a fun one. Absolutely fun one. First of all, thank you to Adam Rushing for connecting me with this guest, Joe Daly. He is the founder and the craftsman behind Daily Goods. Okay. So, guys, this business is up, it's coming, it's growing. It's big time. It's a Texas-based company, and they're creating what they do is they make handcrafted, high-quality leather goods. And this is for everyday use. And guys, I got my journal right here. Uh Joe did a phenomenal job for our men's retreat. He put together some resources for us. Again, Adam connected us. He really helped us big time with this. So he had book, he has uh bookmarks and things like that, but he also put these journals together with the little line within his logo on it. Man, this is that's uh something I will treasure forever. And and and what this began, you're gonna hear his story. It was a side hustle. And it grew over several years into a full-time business. And so he stepped out, he was in vocational ministry,

Meet Joe Daly And Daily Goods

Chris Grainger

and he stepped out of that to pursue this calling. Okay, and that but he he didn't leave his faith behind. He's integrating faith, craftsmanship, generosity, all this stuff together. And and again, he spent years in church leadership before helping build community and disciple men and all this stuff, but his whole journey has been shaped by desire to align work, money, and purpose under God's authority. So then this is such a just a really great conversation. He's an upside down, generous type thinker. Uh he's again, he's leading that company. They are growing, they're moving, they're shaking. He's got a growing family as well. So I had a lot of fun with this one. I think you're gonna enjoy this as well. For you guys that are entrepreneurs or you're thinking about being entrepreneurs, this is for you. And if you're if you're not, I'm telling you just a story of how Joe approaches stewardship and being the uh managing finances the way that God clearly calls us to do in in his word, you're not gonna be disappointed. All right, guys. So enjoy this conversation with my friend Joe Daly. Welcome to The Line Within Us. How's it going today? Chris, what's up, man?

Joe Daly

Going well, and uh thanks for having me.

Chris Grainger

I'm super excited to have you here. I want to give a first a shout out to my brother Adam Rushing because he got us connected originally. I guess he found some of your content on LinkedIn. He was like, Chris, you gotta talk to Joe, man.

Joe Daly

Come on, dude. LinkedIn, I'm I'm grateful for the digital connections on LinkedIn, but even more so, you know, getting to do a phone call or a podcast, hang out in person, just the way it's bringing people together just through genuine relationships. I'm I'm grateful for it.

Chris Grainger

No doubt. No doubt. Well, before we get into everything, all your your amazing testimony and all the cool stuff you're building, maybe share something fun about you that not many people know about, Joe.

Joe Daly

Fun thing about Joe. Uh, man, I'll uh a couple couple of things come to mind. One, I'm I'm from Minnesota, uh, I live in Texas now, and so uh I've been here long enough where my accent is kind of worn off. Uh I played golf a ton growing up. Um, it was a a love turned idol. And uh I was a college golfer, thought about trying to go pro and play for a living, and um never ended up going for it. Now I play a couple times a year in charity scrambles. And um, and then maybe the last one that comes to mind that I will appropriately get a lot of grief for, uh, but I have not had a donut or a soda since I was like 16 or something like that. And so just had a season of life as kind of a early teen, was trying to make some healthier choices and and it it both of those just kind of stuck. And uh, and so now my my friends very appropriately give me grief uh pretty, pretty, pretty occasionally uh about not eating donuts. My boys are getting older now too, like, dad, eat a donut, dad, eat a donut. And uh and so I like I like they taste great. I'm not against the taste, but yeah, just it's kind of turned into more of like an identity thing. I'm like, oh, I don't eat donuts or I I don't drink soda. And so uh those would be some kind of three three things that come to mind that are you know not typical uh things that come up in the beginning of conversations.

Chris Grainger

That's it, bro. I mean, hats off on the soda stuff. I'm with you there. I don't drink soda either. So what's your go-to? What are you drinking throughout the day?

Joe Daly

Man, lots of water, black coffee, specifically like I like the good coffee, so like single origin, make make my own at home, kind of single origin black coffee, and then just sparkling water. Love, like a Topo Chico. Yeah, but really those are beverages are pretty boring, but I love all three of those.

Chris Grainger

There you go. There you go. Well, I love it. Would you love for you to share with our listeners out there a little bit about your testimony, how you came to know the Lord, what did that look like for you growing up?

Joe Daly

Yeah, no, I as I mentioned earlier, I'm from Minnesota, born and raised there. I uh met my wife at a camp in Missouri. She's from Illinois, and now we live in Texas. We're we're kind of all over the map. But grew up in Minnesota, uh, you know, birth through age 22 was up there. And uh man, I I think I had a genuine, you know, faith transaction with Jesus around six, seven, eight years old. I don't remember, there wasn't like a day or a time necessarily, but and grew up in a home where I went to church, I was loved, provided for, a very secure, loving home, which I'm I'm so grateful for. I I know there's so many people that's not their story. And so um, yeah, I I think I genuinely came to believe, man, I'm a sinner, I need a savior, and I can't work my way to heaven. It's all by grace through faith in Jesus. But but really from

From Rule-Keeping To Real Freedom

Joe Daly

like six to twenty two or so, uh, I was I like to joke, but but there's some truth in the joke that I was a little Pharisee in training. Um, just kind of do good, be good, follow the rules, and and objectively, uh, I did a good job with that. Like I got good grades, I went to youth group, student council, choir, sports, kind of you name it, I did it. And um, and my my friends, I it's probably like uh fifth, sixth, seventh grade, you know, some not yeah, really not friends, just kids that kind of nickname me or call me like Mr. Perfect. And like I both loved it and I hated it. You know, I didn't I didn't want to lower my standards, and at the same time, like, man, I was lonely, I was insecure, I didn't really uh have close friends. You know, pornography entered my life around like 13 or 14. I I don't remember exactly when or how, but just and so I had this kind of duplicitous life going on where I think I genuinely believed in God and was saved, was convicted over my sin, and yet, you know, on the outside acted like I had it all together. And and on the inside, you know, like I said, I was lonely and insecure and and just like didn't didn't love the fact that I was looking at porn. And so, you know, that was just kind of this on and off struggle and battle and growth, um, where it really wasn't until college and then after college, uh, working at uh a Christian summer camp where I met my wife. Our oldest son is named after our boss there, who really just discipled me and took me under his wing. We studied the Bible for a year there together back when we were friends. And just that was the season where I found freedom from pornography. I mean, it's now it's been, by God's grace, I think 13, 14 years since the last time I went down that path. I just got freedom there. I've learned to read God's word and live in biblical community, confess my sins, uh, memorize scripture. And and man, it's it's not like, you know, you you know full well, it's not like I've I've got it all figured out since that season of life, right? I've I've still got plenty, plenty, plenty of things that uh are not God's best in my life. And man, since kind of that 22, 23 years old, I've just I've done my imperfect best to run hard after Jesus, you know, putting into practice the promises of his scripture and avoiding the warnings of the scripture and uh again finding freedom from sin and living in an authentic community where people know my struggles, they know how to encourage me, challenge me. Uh, they know what what I make, what I spend, just kind of just living an open, authentic life with other Christians has been one of the freeing, most amazing things kind of in my journey of of following Jesus. And so yeah, move moved to Texas about 15 years ago now, and uh, and and love it here, man. We uh we like Texas summer more than we like Minnesota winter. Um is kind of the way the way we say it. We don't like Texas summers, but we like it more than a kind of a Minnesota and an Illinois winter back where we back where we grew up.

Chris Grainger

So did you so did your sports teams travel with you to Texas, or are you now Texas fans as well?

Joe Daly

Man, I uh against better judgment, I still cheer for the Minnesota Vikings, who are terrible. Uh and so I uh let's see, Vikings, I like uh twins or the Rangers, I'll cheer for them. Um I can't I can't get myself to cheer for the Cowboys. And uh, but I'm okay with either the Timberwolves or the Mavericks, kind of wild or the star. So so most of all the sports, I'm like, I I kind of like Texas, but football, for whatever reason, I can't I can't give up on my Vikings, even though they they let me down year in, year out.

Chris Grainger

Well, it's not exactly easy being a cowboy fan either now.

Joe Daly

So, you know, there's the longer, the longer it goes, that is true. They they at least have a couple Super Bowls, but uh but yeah, I'm I'm uh I'm Vikings through and through again against better judgment.

Chris Grainger

Love it, love it. Well, you said something about the uh the gentleman at the chill at the camp that discipled you. That just to me it struck out it was salient. Kind of exp expand on that, if you will. What did that look like when you say he was discipling you and really pouring into you? Were you guys meeting after work, before work? Like what you know, practically, how did how did that play out for you?

Joe Daly

No, great, great question. He um so he was my boss at that Christian family camp that we worked at. Um and I got the man the privilege to serve on the leadership team kind of with and under him, you know, as a recent college graduate. And then um, so for a summer, we were kind of together all day, different parts of the day, on and off, and just you know, at a at a really fun, you know, positive environment, Christian summer camp. So early mornings, late nights, you know, games, sweating, working hard, and just it was it was a naturally

Life On Life Discipleship That Sticks

Joe Daly

um kind of a memory-making season of life anyway, just working at camp all summer and then getting to work for him. And then uh that next year, so it would have been the year after I graduated college, my wife and I, uh again, we were friends at the time, but we both as friends did this one-year Bible institute. And um, his name was Will. He was kind of like a host home to me in a way. So I would go over at least once a week for meals, but but beyond that, I mean, I was probably at his house three, four times a week uh because we were we were friends at that point. Again, he was he was like a second father figure to me in in a lot of ways. And so, and I I've got a great uh my dad, my dad loves Jesus. Um growing up, I don't know my my parents are very public about their story. I'm not saying anything they haven't shared on the internet before, but they were, I think as they look back, they're like, I think we were saved, and we might not have been. I grew up in, I would say kind of like a moral loving home, um Christian in the sense that we went to church and um and they were man, I again, I'm very, very grateful uh for my parents and the upbringing I had. So I say none of that um in a way to like knock them. They they've they would they would say the same thing. It's like, man, super, super grateful. And I think they'd do something differently now in terms of like the intentionality of like discipleship, where where Will, that's just really what he did. And just we would read God's word together, we'd work out, we'd do laundry. It just kind of like brought me into his life. It was it was really like a life on life. There wasn't like a set, you know, hey, we didn't we didn't meet 6 a.m. every week, for example. I I love groups like that and I love uh appointments like that, but it really wasn't that. It was just kind of doing life together for this, you know, 15, 16 month period. And um again, part of that being a summer camp, which was pretty fun. But uh, even outside of camp for that year, he just kind of let me into his world. And I I I kind of became a son to him, I think in some ways. He's got two boys that are a little bit younger than me, both of them who I know and love. But but yeah, for that year that we were there living in um Branson, Missouri, of all places, uh just getting to get to hang out and spend a lot of rub rub shoulders with Will Cunningham quite a bit. And so really, really grateful for him and just the impact he had on my life.

Chris Grainger

Amen, brother. I mean, that's what discipleship's all about, right? That side by side, doing it together. I mean, this that's what Jesus did. He's he the the guys are right there with him the whole time. So love it. Absolutely love it. So get so you finished college and then maybe take us to the next step of your journey from a professional standpoint. What type of work did you pursue?

Joe Daly

Yeah, yeah. So, man, I thought, you know, again, uh my my faith has been a big part of my life kind of since as long as I can remember. And so I thought I was gonna go into business and um, you know, sales or business and and was like, man, I want to make money so I can give money and I want to have a job that's flexible so I can serve and use my time. And just I I really wanted to be a businessman to the glory of God at best my you know, 22, 23, 24-year-old brain and heart thought and knew how to do that. And so um moved to Dallas and worked for a medical device company for about three years, was in like a kind of an entry-level uh service sales type role with the goal to if I did well and did it long enough, I'd get uh territory and just do sales, you know, full commission. And and man, it was good company, good products,

Leaving Corporate For Church Leadership

Joe Daly

good people. Uh, worked with some awesome believers, even, you know, which isn't you don't have that doesn't have to be the case to to like your job. But man, just had had an amazing, amazing opportunity in front of me. And um, and man, after about three years was just like, I don't think this is what God has for me. And it it's it was kind of everything I thought I wanted in a job and um in a career for that matter. And uh around the same time, uh, my local church that I was a member of was like, hey, we've got this job here. Would you would you want to, would you be open to working here? And I was like, dude, me? Like, you got the wrong guy. Like, I just I never, never thought I'd work for the local church. And um, and typically, as is the case with my life, I can be late to the party sometimes. And so man, I uh talked to my wife, talked to our close friends, sought counsel, and it was unanimous. Everyone was like, dude, you would be great at that and you'd love that. And so uh man said yes. That was May of uh 2014, about a year after we got married, went and worked for the local church, and then now in hindsight, ended up doing it for about a decade. And so worked six years for a church in Dallas. God brought us to Waco, worked for a church here in Waco where we still are. And um, yeah, just it was an amazing, amazing 10 years. Did it long enough where I thought that, all right, this is this is now my path in life. I am gonna be kind of a church staff guy uh after thinking, oh, I'll never work for a church. It's like, oh man, I I think I'm only gonna work for a church. And um, and then yeah, you know, eight, 18 short months ago now went went full time and all in with the leather company, which is what God has me doing now, running a custom leather goods company. So both working for the church and now running the leather company, neither one of those were on my bingo card, as I like to say. Didn't plan for either of those, wasn't like didn't grow up thinking I'd do either of those, but man, both of them have just been a blast. Uh I'm just really humbled and grateful to get to do both of those.

Chris Grainger

Amen, brother. Amen. Well, guys, we're gonna take our first break with Joe. We'll be right back. If you like me, you don't need another book just sitting around collecting dust. What I enjoy is something to help guide me when my feet hit the ground in the mornings. And that is why we put together unleashing the line with that. It has honest stories, scripture you can apply, and simple steps to help you lead at home, at work, and everywhere in between. So if you've been feeling stuck or scattered lately, you may find this resource encouraging. Read a few pages. Take one step and watch what God does with your obedience. Hey, and if reading's tough for you right now, no problem. The book is also available in audible version so you can listen on the go. So if this sounds interesting, check out thelionwithin.us slash book or search for unleashing the lion within directly on Amazon. So there's no pressure here, just a resource that many guys are finding helpful. So grab the format that fits and take your next step. So Joe, you mentioned you know you were in the church, you're you're doing the work, then you know, holding it up right here, guys. You talk about a leather company, Joe does it right. You you felt a call to this. So walk us through, you know, how how you felt like God was calling you to that. And then tactically, how did you take the steps to be able to set this up? Eventually, now you're full-time, you're all all in. But if I remember correctly, you didn't just start full-time, right? You kind of built it up.

Joe Daly

Yeah, yeah. So it was a it was a hobby, really. So I'm working for the church in Dallas, and uh, a buddy of mine had this leather journal that he was gifted, and we both kind of joked, I was like, I'll bet I could make that. Uh and so for a few months that was kind of the running joke. And then eventually one day I was like, all right, like I either need to try making it or stop saying that and kind of turned into this, like, kind of turned into this open loop that was like, all right, I either need to do do something to not have this open mental loop. And so, man, I got on Google

Turning A Hobby Into A Business

Joe Daly

in Leather Store Dallas. I mean, I knew nothing about leather. I had never worked with it before, didn't know if there were leather stores. I was just like, man, I don't, I don't know what I don't know. And uh man, I I I found a store, I took my buddy's journal with me and drove to the store. And uh, long story short, like that that night made my first little journal. It's one I still carry with me to this day, a little pocket size, kind of the size of a size of an iPhone or so, put it in my back pocket. And um, and yeah, those first first few years, it really was just this hobby that um I read a quote uh a few years into it. I was like, oh man, that describes what what it was, which in the quote is uh if you work with your mind, Sabbath with your hands. If you work with your hands, Sabbath with your mind. And just this idea that, man, I was it was a knowledge job working for the church, right? I wasn't um I you know, it was a knowledge job. And so crafting with my hands, kind of nights and weekends, was really just like this restful, almost like cathartic thing. And it was a hobby. I was, I was, I was making a few bucks doing it, like I was covering my costs, but um, but it was a hobby. I was I was loving the life and the job at the church. I was, you know, I'm getting married at the time, got a young kid, and um, and then in uh the end of 2020, so we moved to Waco in 2020, and uh end of 2020, we were planning to renovate our home here in Waco. Uh fix wrapper land, right? We're in Chip and Joe's backyard, yeah. It's like everyone does it in Waco. No, we um we we did. We bought a home, we moved here purposefully to renovate it. It was it was livable and it needed some work. And so we had saved up some money to but between the sale of our home in Dallas and then just the few four or five years leading up to moving, we just had some savings and we we were gonna do this renovation and we sensed uh our so we were going to church in December. I I work there, right? I'm I'm over operations, finance, HR. That's kind of my that's my job at the church. And the pastor, who's a dear friend, he starts talking about the church's debt. And uh, and we we knew about it. Again, that was part of my my job description was knowing all that. And and that's a big part of our story. When we got married, um, my wife had 80 grand of debt. I had never had debt. And so, you know, we get married, that becomes our debt. And um, and we were like, let's pay this off. And so we paid it off uh

A Risky Gift And God’s Provision

Joe Daly

six days before our two-year anniversary. We just we conquered down, lived in a one-bedroom apartment, loved, loved life, had a great couple first years of marriage, and we're like, man, let's let's get let's get this out from under us. And so, so so our pastor's talking about the church's debt, and uh, and we both sensed the Lord is calling us to make a financial gift that was really more than we'd ever given in a year before, like a one-time and a sizable gift. At least for us, it was extremely sizable. And it was like, it was like, oh man, are we sure? You know, so we we pray separately, we come together, and we both have this peace and conviction and clarity that this is what God wants us to do. And so, so we make this gift in December of 2020, kind of effectively saying no to about half the renovation. And uh, and man, Chris, it was one of the most fun, joyful, amazing things we got to be a part of uh as a as a married couple, just getting to really celebrate what God led us to do. That's that's not like, oh, look at us. It's like, oh no, got look at God. And um, and so man, we got to share that with some close friends. You know, that's not something you like get on stage and say, hey, everyone, look at the amount of money we just gave. Like that, I think that would be the opposite of what scripture teaches. But but you do see, you know, man, let your light shine before others so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who's in heaven. And um, I think there's a lot more in the New Testament, especially where the way they lived life back then, within close biblical friendships and relationships, people absolutely would have known like what you made and what you gave and where you lived. And they just they lived life so much more communally. And so we shared that with some of our colleagues. Close, close, intimate friends. And then, man, uh, Chris, this is where it just gets crazy. 30 days later, got God resupplied everything. Um, in a way that just does not make sense. We didn't, we didn't give with that in mind. That wasn't our expectation, right? We didn't give to get, but but yeah, 30 days later, after making that gift, he resupplied everything. And and one of the biggest ways he did that was through at the time our our biggest order ever at daily goods. Uh and again, mind you, it's still a hobby back then, but uh basically in 2021, we grew significantly. I think we about 10x in 2021. Um, so still a hobby, but to this point now where it's like, all right, this is like a side hustle. Like I basically have a new part-time job. Yeah. And then in 2022 we grew, 2023 we grew, and then we just got to this point in 2024 where it's like, all right, I'm I'm trying to be faithful at this, you know, 40, 50 hour week, full-time operations job of the church, trying to be a good husband, be a good dad, have my own life and walk with the Lord and taking care of myself. And it just, it was not sustainable. And so we prayed, we sought counsel, and um, you know, similar to almost 10, a little over 10 years ago now when we prayed about going to work for the local church, when it was just a unanimous uh, this time as well, about 15, 16 people who are closest to us, every single one of them was like, man, we we really think God's up to something in this leather company, and uh he that's what he wants you to steward in this next season. So yeah, so we went uh that was in June of 2024, and then we went all in just through finding my replacement at the church and making sure I left well and trained him up. Um, we went all in in October of 2024.

Chris Grainger

Wow. Incredible. Okay, so all in October 2024. And you're so it was your wife working before or she was.

Joe Daly

She's not, yeah. She once once we started having kiddos, she became a full-time, full-time mom homemaker, and the job's twice as hard as mine.

Chris Grainger

Walk us through then her and her emotions and and and her thought process and her support, obviously, of you doing this because you're married, and this is a big you guys got kids, and there is a certain level of stability that comes with a job with the church, and you know this amount of income's coming in regularly. You have insurance and all that. So walk us through the emotions within the dynamics of the marriage to make that step.

Joe Daly

That's an insightful question. And uh all those things you just said were true. And so we um, man, it it was it because it was just so um that season where I was really trying to do two jobs, it just wasn't sustainable. And so,

like my wife and I, man, we loved being part of the local church staff that we were on. We still go to church there, we're still members there, we still serve there, uh, right? We didn't, it was it was a positive transition in that sense. We weren't looking to leave. And so I think that was the first thing that we had to kind of start to wrestle with. It's like, oh man, we really enjoy being a part of the staff family, just the the relationships, the people I worked with, um, the the culture was amazing. And yeah, having a having a stable paycheck and benefits is nice. And um, and so we started to wrestle through that, but but once it got to this point of like, all right, like I'm not, I'm not being the the husband and the father, and even just the own Christ follower for myself that I could be and want to be because I just had no margin. I was uh and we weren't we weren't doing daily goods to like chase the money, right? We we made enough at the church job to provide for ourselves. It it really was just uh in a really, really humbling way. We were just responding to the business that was coming toward us. Um just, you know, we a friend would get one and share it with someone else, and then they'd reach out. And just we were getting these orders through word of mouth organic growth, referral, which was so, so humbling. It still is humbling to this day. Um, and so it really was like it turned from man, do we uh uh increase lead time? Do we raise prices? Do we just turn it off? Do we shut it down? To to really, but the way it just kept growing, the the conversation and the question became and what does stewardship of this company look like? Like this is, you know, as I talked to friends and people I trusted, they're like, dude, this is not normal. Like people's hobbies don't organically turn into, you know, potentially full-time jobs and careers. Like you, you you really need to pray about, man, what's God doing through your company? And like what does stewardship of that look like? And so as we did that and as we sought that together, you know, she had a great piece and and we were aligned that, man, this does seem to be what God's calling us to in this season. And it really felt like a call, if you will. Um not not um, you know, I get the privilege to teach all the the money stewardship classes at our church, and and um it's a topic that's near and dear to my heart. I feel a personal call to talk about and spread the message of like biblical generosity and and again, just talk talk openly about money. I kind of alluded to that earlier, but uh, you know, over 2,000 verses in the Bible on money, Jesus warned against greed more than any other sin. 20 to 25% of all of Jesus' teachings had to do with money. And um, there's just so much in there that I think uh the modern American church often just misses or doesn't understand. And so I just I love that topic and I love talking about it. And so both my wife and I, because of the many, many warnings against greed, against materialism, against uh chasing money, against loving money, because of the many warnings, we were like, God, are you sure this is what you want us to go do? Because the the point of going to do this wouldn't just to be to maintain it, like we'd want to grow it. You know, we want to grow this company. And and and so with that, man, we've been, she she was on board because of really some of the vision we have has been from other Christian business owners who who have done everything from like legally and literally giving their company away to to be owned by a nonprofit um to capping their salary or capping their lifestyle. So like the bigger the company gets, the more they get to give away. And just really saying, man, how can we use business? How can we use profit? Well, profit's not a bad thing, um, but how can we use business? How can we use profit uh should we make it to be generous and to live for the kingdom and to fund ministries, provide meaningful jobs? Um, and so really just saying, hey, how can we go into business as a ministry, go into business as a mission? And um, and man, we just we don't see any sort of like separation of uh secular and sacred in in like where you get your paycheck from. It's like, man, if you're a Christian, you're on mission, period. And so I think I think that was really what helped get us fully aligned and get her on board. It's like, man, this isn't like a lesser calling or a lesser future season. Like this is a calling and it's what God has for us. And so, man, how do we do it unified and how do we do it on mission together? And so, yeah, it was um, and now I have one job again. And so I know she's she's grateful for that. I just I got margin back in my life, able to be more present and be more proactive rather than kind of reactive with no bargin.

Chris Grainger

Right. And essentially, I mean, now you have uh uh I mean that's a the church is it it has the mission component, but it the church is for equipping the saints. Totally. You you're you're in the mission field now, what 100%. And I feel like just through our interactions and I see how you engage with others, you truly treat your your business as as a ministry and you're doing things and you recognize that opportunity. And maybe just speak how how that culture looks differently than the culture of the secular business for you know the everyday listener out there.

Joe Daly

Yeah, yeah. You know, I alluded to it. It's like I don't, you know, the the whole concept of sacred and secular is is very, very, very modern. Those those like those words would not have been uh applied to like work or life for most all of church history. Jordan Raynor has done a lot of great work and written a lot of great things on this topic, uh among others.

Chris Grainger

Um and so He's been on the line a couple times. Cool.

Joe Daly

No way, I know. That's awesome. I'd uh that's that's so cool. I um and so yeah, I just again going into like, oh man, God clearly called us to work for the local church 10 years ago. And so it's like,

Mission Over Sacred-Secular Thinking

Joe Daly

man, if he's calling us to go do this, how do we make sure we stay on mission? And I just I have this deep-seated fear of um, man, getting to the end of my life and standing before Jesus. And he's like, dude, you were materialistic, focused on entertainment, and you grew that company based on American business principles, not the very clear instructions I gave you in my word. And so like I think just I'm kind of I'm kind of running scared, if you will. And not, I mean, perfect, perfect love casts out fear, uh, right. I we we get into heaven by grace through faith. So I don't I don't say that in like a performative, oh, God's gonna love me more. But man, there are a lot of scriptures that also in the New Testament, man, the fear of the Lord. And hey, we are gonna give an account for how we live our lives and how we steward what he gave us to steward. Not, not if we get into heaven, but but really like, man, what does the stewardship of our life and our talents and our treasures look like? And so, so because of you know, the the the those warnings in scripture, I'm like, all right, Lord, like if we're gonna do this, please help. And so I um, you know, a verse that kind of is front of my mind is man, if you're ashamed of me before men, I'll be ashamed of you before my father. And again, I don't think that's like, hey, whether or not we get into heaven, but really just like, man, how am I doing it living unashamedly for Jesus and everything I do? And um, and I'm I'm by no means claiming to have that figured out or say I do it perfectly, but but really I'm trying to kind of day by day say, all right, Lord, how can I live for you today? How can I be a light for you today? How can I not be ashamed of this faith that I have? Um, I mean, gosh, in the examples we have in the Bible, it's like they're getting tortured and crucified and stoned and shipwrecked and just the things that believers have gone through in seasons past. And to be clear, I'm aware some of that's happening today in in the world. Um, I think even today, in the last century, more people have been martyred for the Christian faith than like all of church history combined. So I'm not trying to say that doesn't happen today, but man, it doesn't happen in Waco, Texas, is what I would say. And so it's like, man, how do I make sure that I'm making choices to live and uh be light for Jesus in the context that he has me? And um, man, I I can be so, so, so guilty of focusing on me, focusing on my business and trying to wordsmith something to sound clever, as opposed to just like, hey, I love Jesus. He defines everything about me and letting that be, you know, my first foot forward with folks. Amen.

Chris Grainger

Well, love it, love it. So, guys, I'm gonna take a quick break. We'll come back with Joe. If there's one habit that can change a home, it's this when a husband prays with his wife, not because it's a magic formula, but because it recenters your marriage under God's authority and care. And let's be honest, a lot of guys want to do it, but most don't know how to start without it feeling awkward. Maybe you've tried it before and it felt forced, or maybe you've never tried it because you don't even know what to say. Or maybe you're thinking, man, I'm not a pastor, I'm just a guy. And that's why we created this guide. It's our how to pray with your wife. Simple guide. It's biblical, it's practical, and it's designed to help you start praying with your wife in a way that actually feels natural. So it's a five-section guide and it gives you a simple framework to get started. Okay, it makes sure everything is grounded in scripture, and it also has a powerful PDF that you can pull up whenever you need, especially when things get off, because they're gonna get off as normal. So this is all about reclaiming your marriage and reclaiming the spiritual leadership reigns of your home. Because praying with your wife is one of the strongest ways to fight for unity, to build trust, and to right to ship when life starts to pull you off a course. So if you're ready, get access today at the lionwithin.usguides. That's the lionwithin.us slash guides, and start unleashing the line within at home by leading your marriage through prayer. So, Joe, as far as I know, just based off your testimony, you you didn't have an entrepreneurial drive out the gate. You mean you work for the church, maybe you did as a kid, maybe you had a uh had a lemonade stand or something. I don't know.

Joe Daly

I did I did have a lemonade stand growing up. And so yeah, I think uh there's maybe a little bit as I look back, but uh yeah, not not in the way that I'm doing it now. I didn't see this coming, that's for sure.

Chris Grainger

So, what would be your advice for a young Christian man? Maybe he's listening right now, or maybe even an older Christian man, and he's worked for W-2 his whole career, you know, stability, all the things that come with working for someone else, feeling a call from God, wanting to take a step. Obviously, you know, you taught finances, so you know we don't want to just tell guys to just drop, you know, drop everything and go. You got to get the boat close enough so you don't drown swimming through the boat. Uh, so what would be your advice for for taking those first steps of entrepreneurialism as a Christian, you know, and stewarding what God's calling you to do at the same time, responsibilities. That there's just a lot here. And I'm just very curious of what your advice would be for from someone who's been very successful with it.

Joe Daly

Man, great, great question. I um a few thoughts come to mind. And so, you know, first and foremost would just be, man, be faithful where God has you today. Uh, the grass is not green elsewhere, the grass is green

Advice For Christian Entrepreneurs

Joe Daly

where you water it. And uh, you know, last I checked, God's sovereign. And so if you if you're listening to this and you woke up and you're like, am I supposed to be at this job? I would say, yes. Why? Because you're there. It's like you're you're there right now as you listen to this. And so, you know, God's not taking a nap, he didn't screw up, you didn't screw up, like he's sovereign. So if he wanted you somewhere else up until this point in time, like he would have done it. Uh and then moving forward, man, um, you know, a few principles that have served me well and and that come to mind, you know, one would be um, again, kind of just be faithful where you are, be excellent where you are. And and then tied to that would be, you know, I've I've seen this play out a lot. I I can't back it up word for word in scripture. So I would call this like a principle or a truism, but the the the concept that God doesn't typically call us away from something, he typically calls us two things. And so, like if you're in an environment or a job you don't like, um, man, just really do the heartwork first of like, why not? And how are you doing it? Being a light, being excellent, working hard, being kind, being loving, and just just going all in where he has you. Again, we we got so many examples in scripture. I mean, Joseph, Daniel are two great ones that come to mind. It's like, man, best we can tell, they were excellent at what they did. They worked hard, they were the best at what they did, and they were wrongly imprisoned and in captivity. And so it's like, man, how are we doing it? Just being faithful where he has us. Um then being mindful of what he might be calling us to. Um, and then um, and then yeah, it's it is, you know, it's not for everyone, and it's not all rainbows and butterflies, is what I would say. And so, you know, I think social media, in my opinion, over-romanticizes entrepreneurship. And so it it's um, man, it it hear me loud and clear. It was really, really nice to get a paycheck every two weeks. And it was awesome to have uh paid time off and uh holidays and health insurance and different things. And so um no, again, don't get me wrong, we also very much enjoy the season God has us in now, but but there is there's a risk component, there's a be your own boss component, there's a hey, everything comes to you component. And so, you know, I think even just in um, you know, one body, many members, you know, God made all of us different. You wired us differently, gifted us differently. You know, if you just look at the world at large, even like statistically, I think most people probably are gonna be an employee. And that's not bad, that's not lesser than, that's not worse than. That's just we all have different roles, different gifts, different wirings, and and um, we're all gonna give an account to God for our lives, not someone else's life. And so, um, yeah, and then maybe the last thing that comes to mind along those lines would be like, man, we walk by faith, not by sight. And so there is a faith component, right? I I think as Christians, um heard a great podcast recently with uh Andy Crouch just talking about like re-risking. You know, he does a lot of work with Praxis and different guys, just man, what does it look like to risk to the glory of God? You know, not foolishly just to maximize making money, but say, man, how can I risk for God's glory? How can I go into business risking because I believe by faith this is what God has me doing? And then all the while, you you said it, man. It's like we got to provide, you know, it's like you got to put food on the table, pay your bills. And right, you know, the Bible says those who don't provide for their own household uh is worse than an unbeliever. And so, man, what does it look like if you're married or have kids, especially to make sure that what you're doing is putting you in a position to provide for your family? But um, but yeah, not for everyone. It's we've loved it. It's been a great journey for us. And um, yeah, those would just be some thoughts that have served us well on this path, and hopefully they're helpful to others.

Chris Grainger

Very helpful. Well, and the worse than unbeliever verse, man, that makes me wonder is it is there like basement in hill or something? Like, I don't, but anyway.

Joe Daly

Right? No, it it's uh there's like man, what okay, he who does not provide for his household is worse than unbeliever. It's like, wait, what? Like, what does that mean?

Chris Grainger

Right. Yeah. And I I know generosity is such a big part of the culture of what you built at Daily Goods, and but balancing profitability with generosity, stewardship, any words of wisdom or advice or things you've learned that that you feel would be useful for the guys out there that are trying to be better stewards themselves?

Joe Daly

Yeah, it's um man, I wrestle with it again as a I feel a personal call to kind of live and teach and model and challenge and encourage all things biblical generosity. And so I I love the topic. Um, but man, it's a wrestle. There's just, you know, uh a couple verses that I just can't shake. It's like, you know, James 4, you adulterous people, do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Uh 1 John 2, uh the love of the world is emotion, you do not have the love of the Father. Um the the parable of the seeds growing up, you know, the third one, it's it grew, but the the weeds choked it out,

Generosity Versus Greed With Money

Joe Daly

the the deceitfulness of riches, the cares of the world, the pride of life. And um, and then you got the examples of generosity we have. So those are three very strong warnings against like worldly, I'd say materialism, the love of money. And then you got um the poor widow gets highlighted, right, given everything she has. You got Zacchaeus, he comes to faith and gives away half of his possessions, pays people back fourfold. Um, and then the one that messes with me the most, Chris, is we got the church in uh Macedonia in 2 Corinthians 8, where you know, the the way Paul describes them. So, you know, this is the the people that the Holy Spirit chose to preserve for us in the scriptures. It said, uh, out of their extreme poverty, they begged earnestly to give to the relief of the saints. And I'm like, wait, what? Like for first century harshly taxed, dirt poor Jews, they out of their extreme poverty, they begged earnestly to give. And uh, and so I'm like, man, when you just when you stack up the many warnings against worldliness and materialism, and you compare that to then the many examples we have of of what I would call like extreme or radical generosity. I'm just like, man, I I again I'm I'm kind of perfect love casts out fear and I'm running scared at the same time, like a fear of the Lord. Like, oh Lord, as I look around me in America, it's the richest and the freest country in the history of humanity, which I'm very, very grateful for. I I don't, I don't say that to knock America. I'm so, so, so humbled and grateful to live here. And like, man, we've been given a lot. And so I think the scriptures say we're gonna give an account for that. And so, so with our business, man, I'm like, uh, you know, I heard a great quote: if dependence is the goal, weakness is an advantage. And uh, man, I I I know intellectually to say, hey, I want to depend on God, and I don't like being weak. And so I'm uh I'm really thinking, I'm I'm I've been asking, you know, 18 months into full time, God, what does it look like for us to practice generosity? Uh it is your your words that it's more blessed to give than receive. How do we practice that and put ourselves in a place to be dependent on you, uh to not be dependent on ourselves, to not be dependent on our bank account, even, but to be wise, right? To have wisdom principles.

Chris Grainger

Sure.

Joe Daly

But man, so often living wisely based on what God says might look like being a fool in the world's eyes. And so, so yeah, we're we're doing our best to give in a way that causes us to faithfully trust that he's gonna keep providing. Um, in this season, that looks like we're we're calculating what we feel like he's called to give based on our gross revenue, not our net profit, and just saying, all right, Lord, by faith, we're gonna say, you know, it's all it all belongs to you anyway. But um the the minimum we're committing to to steward from a standpoint of getting it out of our hands and giving it to those less fortunate than us is gonna calculate that off gross and not net. And so I'm I'm not saying every Christian business owner has to do that, but that's one of the ways we're choosing to do that in this season to to try to walk by faith and put ourselves in a posture to keep depending on him.

Chris Grainger

Amen, brother. I mean, and God's obviously blessing you in a mighty way and the wonderful thing. You you guys are growing by leaps and bounds. So maybe unpack a discipline or two that you're practicing or that you recognize to keep you grounded as the leader, you know, your leader of the business as it continues to grow. I mean, that's it's a big responsibility, and that that responsibility is getting it's just getting larger and larger. So what what are you doing to stay grounded as you as as you navigate this, Joe?

Joe Daly

Yeah, man, first and foremost, I've I married a godly woman who will keep me grounded. And so uh and I'm man, I'm so so grateful for my wife. Uh and so, man, just first, first, just you know, pursuing her and having making sure our marriage is in a good spot. And and if it is, I know she's gonna tell me what I need to hear. Um, and then yeah, you know, I I've I uh I've had my For me, both in work settings and also kind of small group settings, just I I alluded to earlier, but just this idea of living

Accountability That Keeps You Grounded

Joe Daly

authentically. And so I've I've got, you know, probably 12 to 20 men in my life. Um, really, the list could be longer, which I'm humbled by, but in terms of just the amount of time I have, right? For close relationships, I've got four to four to five guys specifically that I track with weekly. And then uh again, another probably dozen or so where it's like, man, they know they know how much money I make, they know what I give, they know what I spend, they know where I'm struggling with sin, they know what I'm reading God's word. Like they just like there's nothing in my life that those men either don't know or couldn't find out with a uh, hey man, how's this going? And it's like, great, here I'll tell you. And so just this idea of living very openly and authentically with people who who love Jesus and love me, man, that's a that's a humbling way to live. It's also a really freeing and encouraging way to live and an empowering way to live. And so I'm just I'm trying to continue to surround myself with godly men who where there's just there's nothing is off limits in my life so that they can help me just be God's man in in everything I do and how I live and how I treat my wife and kids and run, run and steward the company. Um, but yeah, that those would be some things that you know I'm I'm trying to do. But but really, um, man, it it's not about me. And uh I'm I like to make it about me at times, right? I'm I'm human, I've got flesh, I've got pride, but it's just like man, we're we're all just supporting roles, supporting characters. I mean, heck, we're not even supporting characters, we're like we're extras in uh in the movie about about God. And so um the this company, it's not mine, it's his. And um, if I try to trace back any and all good in my life, it's always been through people, through relationships, and through ways that I'm like, man, I have no business doing what I'm doing or or running the company that I'm running without the people and the ways that the Lord has provided. And so just just trying to remind myself that as often as I can. And um, and and I think, you know, you know, Jesus is our is our perfect example for the Son of Man didn't come to be served, but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. And so so I'm really trying to say, man, if if I'm gonna, if God's gonna choose to grow this company through us, uh through my wife and I, and we get to steward people's lives who work here and clients, it's like, man, if we're not known as like loving and encouraging, uh, we're doing something wrong, right? You know, it's if and so we're really just trying to have a company culture where where our employees are grateful to work here and feel loved, feel encouraged, and uh and making it about people first. Uh not again, we're not anti-profit, we're very pro-profit. If you don't you don't have profit, you can't have a mission, right? It it takes money. And so, but it's like, man, people, people then profit, or people and profit maybe the way we're we're trying to think through that.

Chris Grainger

Love it. Love it. What's the what's the most popular product you guys are selling right now? I just want to give you guys a I love everything you're doing. I'm curious, what's flying off the shelves?

Joe Daly

Uh man, it's a kind question. It's uh our journal covers are definitely our most popular. So all of our journal colors are refillable. So we use like a mole skin type insert. Once you get done with one, you open it up, slide the insert out, slide a new one in. And so, yeah, our journal covers are definitely our most popular. We're we're gonna hopefully offer Bibles here soon. We're excited about that. Uh, you know, handmade leather Bibles, but we also do a lot of like bookmarks, coasters, keychains, a small, simple logo or initialed gifts.

Chris Grainger

Love it. Love it. And where do you guys, and we're gonna go before we do our last thing round, where where do you is it all on the website? On the where if they want to go place orders, inquire, is there phone numbers? Like where do you send them?

Joe Daly

Yeah, man, thanks for asking. Uh, website's a great place to start. You know, it's just dailygoods.com. Uh it's D-A-L-Y. We put no I or no E in

What Daily Goods Makes And Sells

Joe Daly

there, just D-A-L-Y, dailygoods.com. Um, that's got most of our stuff. I'm uh I'm behind right now. We're we're actually looking to add some folks to our team. Uh, we need to get a couple new products on the website that we offer. But but yeah, about 90 to 95% of what we do is like bulk corporate churches, schools, conferences. Um, think like a logo, right? Taking a logo and putting it on the goods. And so there's there's a form on the website you can fill out. You can email us at hello at dailygoods.com. But we also do individual orders all day long, you know, initials, things like that. Those you can order directly from the website. But yeah, website or hello at dailygoods.com is the best way to get a hold of us.

Chris Grainger

Love it. Love it. Well, Joe, we'd love to have a lightning round too, as well, before we before we wrap up today. If you're willing to play, we'll jump right into it, man. Let's play, man. Come home. All right, all right. So first one is about hobbies, but you uh a little caveat, you don't get to answer with golf because we always we already know that golf was one. So is there another hobby that you have that you enjoy doing for fun?

Joe Daly

Right now, I would say I have two hobbies. One is credit card travel hacking. And so I love to we love to travel as a family. And for the longest time, uh, really the way we were able to afford that was just playing the credit card game. And so I'm I'm uh I when we don't have debt, we don't pay interest, we don't pay late fees, none of that. We we pay our balance in full really multiple times a month. But yeah, we love to travel utilizing credit cards. Uh, and then and then I love teaching people how to do that. Uh and then the other one's just man, is I would say like Legos. My boys are into Legos right now, and so I've I've enjoyed a couple Lego sets myself uh in this season. That's been fun.

Chris Grainger

That's

Lightning Round And Future Vision

Chris Grainger

cool. How old are you boys?

Joe Daly

Uh, there are six, almost seven uh and nine.

Chris Grainger

Nice, man. That's awesome. Age. Love it.

Joe Daly

Two little boys, it's been awesome.

Chris Grainger

So no donuts. So what is your go-to food then, bro?

Joe Daly

Man, no donuts. Man, in Texas, I gotta say, chips and guac. Love some chips and guac or chips and queso. Love ice cream. Uh man, what else? Chipotle, Chick-fil-A. I'm a big Chipotle and Chick-fil-A fan. I could eat those two all day long. The specifically, I've I've been posting this on LinkedIn a couple times, and uh, I think I'm becoming known as like the Chick-fil-a breakfast burrito guy. It's, dude, it's it's awesome. It's most people don't even know they make breakfast, let alone uh this breakfast burrito specifically. But yeah, Chick-fil-A nugget breakfast burrito is one of the greatest food combinations on planet earth that I could eat all day long.

Chris Grainger

Love it, love it. So, you know, you mentioned your wife's behind you, she's supporting you, you guys are all in. What's the perfect date night for you and her?

Joe Daly

Perfect date night. Man, we love the uh like a 24-hour getaway. We're not we're not anti like weekly date, but we we both get tired at night. We're we're morning people. And so uh we're we're either doing now that our kids are school age, like a lunch date is great for us, because kind of middle of the day. But but our our jam is, you know, we live in Waco, which is right in between Dallas and Austin. And so we love, you know, letting my parents take the boys and then going to like dinner in Austin, using those credit card points to to stay at a hotel that uh we either we either can't afford or we wouldn't choose to afford, but but we can thanks to the credit card points, and just doing the kind of a quick 24-hour getaway with no kids. I mean, if we can do those every so often, that that fills our cup a lot more than kind of that weekly rhythm. And so trying to do both, but especially if we can get away like that. That's uh that's a lot of fun for us. Get get some good good coffee, good food, uh, and then just sleep. Yeah, as any parent of young kids knows that a night without kids to wake you up is a a good night.

Chris Grainger

Amen, bro. I mean tomorrow I'm leaving with my wife. We do that we we about once a quarter is to get away. So fun. And and you know, we don't do a week a weekly date night. We try to do a monthly, but uh that those getaways, man, particularly if you got kids like we do, you got to get away from them.

Joe Daly

You know, that that fills we love we love our boys, and it fills our cup to to get away like that from time to time.

Chris Grainger

That's it. That's it. How about um since you got little boys, you probably watch superhero movies from time to time. So if you can have a superpower, man, which one would you pick, Joe, and how would you use it?

Joe Daly

Man, that's a great question. And yes, my boys uh love superheroes right now. We haven't let them watch the actual Marvel movies yet. Right. Uh there's some there's some Marvel cartoons that they've started to watch, but I'm uh I'm excited for them to get a little older to watch those. I would pick man, the first one that comes to mind is just anything flying. I think it'd be so cool to fly. Yeah, it's not as that's not as like powerful, right, as laser beam eyes or super strength or whatever. But man, if you could just start flying anytime you wanted, and that'd be that'd be pretty sweet.

Chris Grainger

It would be pretty sweet. How about uh a little more serious one? When you think about God, what's your favorite thing about him?

Joe Daly

Wow, that's a great question. Uh the one I've been saying a lot lately that I do think about uh is just he's a generous God. Um you know, kind of the the three words I've I've heard one of them said from someone else, and the three I would use is holy, loving, and generous. I think if I had only three words to to describe them, you know, first is his holiness followed closely by the fact that like he is love. But um, you know, going back to just my my heart for and just call to spread the message of biblical generosity, you know, it's more than money, but it's not less than money. And and with that, like every single, I would argue every single Christian and most non-Christians have memorized or are very familiar with the number one verse on generosity in the Bible, which is John 3.16, for God so loved the world, he gave. He gave. And so yeah, I I um I I often find myself thinking through, man, he's holy, therefore I need to fear him in a loving way, because he's also loving, and man, he's generous. And so, how can I, how can I, as someone who's created in his image, you know, practice and live out that very same thing.

Chris Grainger

Love that answer. Love we've never got that answer. And as many times we've had we've that I've asked it, so thank you for that. Now let's flip it 180. What's your least favorite thing about Satan?

Joe Daly

Oh, least favorite, dude. He is, oh man, that's like a whole nother podcast right there. Um he probably his like craftiness, maybe. Like, he's so crafty. I mean, again, going back to just greed, like number one thing Jesus warned against is greed. Uh and like, I don't know about you, Chris, but not a single time have my friends been like, or me been like, hey man, can I can I talk to you? I gotta I gotta confess some sin. Oh yeah, what what's up, man? What what's going on? Man, I've been really greedy lately. Can you pray for me? Like it's just like I've never had that conversation. And and yet, not only do we not confess it, like we chase it. I I I can be prone to chase it. And so, man, he's just he's so crafty. Um, and that's that's something I'd like, man, not today, Satan. How can I how can I meditate on God's word and surround myself with Christians? Be try to be mindful of the spirit's still small voice in my ear and my heart. And so, but yeah, man, he is he is crafty, and I I do not like that about him.

Chris Grainger

Amen to that. I'm gonna give you a special pair of glasses, okay? And this special pair of glasses, do you it's allowing you to see just for a brief moment, 10 years out, daily goods. What was that look like?

Joe Daly

10 years out, daily goods. Uh man, I hope we're doing a lot of what we're doing now, uh, in the sense of just, you know, the the the three things I always talk about, just like quality products, quality gifts, you know, meaningful jobs, and then uh meaningful or I like to say irresponsible generosity. Just that, man, if the bigger we get, should should the Lord allow us to do this for 10 years, we hope to do it for many years. It's just like, man, the bigger we get, the more people we can make meaningful gifts and products for, quality handmade, the more meaningful jobs we can provide to the people whose lives we get to steward by by having them work for us. And the more we get to give away. You know, my my wife and I, we're we're committed to the lifestyle that we currently live. We're we have enough. Uh we're not sitting on some big pot of money that we're living off of, but just man, if the company kind of maintains and just grows, like we're we're grateful for the the middle-class Waco life we get to live. And so, yeah, the the bigger we get, the more we get the joy to try to creatively be generous with. So I hope we're doing more of those three things.

Chris Grainger

Love it. Love it. Last question for you, Joe's. What do you hope the listeners remember the most from our time together today?

Joe Daly

Man, God loves you. Uh he's he's not mad at you. He loves you. He is holy. And so, man, if if if if you love him or if you want to love him, uh he's gonna meet you right where you're at, and you know, he's gonna ask you to change, but not out of some like angry sheriff in the sky posture, but of just a loving heavenly father. And so he he's holy, he loves you, and man, he's so good and generous. And the the the true good life is in following him, following his laws, his commands. It's they're not burdensome. That that's where the true joy is is found. And so he he loves you, he loves you, he loves you.

Chris Grainger

Amen. Amen. And where so one more time, where do you want to send them, Joe, if they want to connect with you? I know you're on LinkedIn. I don't know if you're on any other platforms or or Daily Goods. Just point the listeners out there.

Joe Daly

Yeah, dailygoods.com is our website. Uh, we do have an Instagram that I'm horrible at updating and posting on, uh, but I'm trying to get better at that. And then yeah, I'm personally on LinkedIn. That's probably the best place to connect with me.

Chris Grainger

Okay.

Joe Daly

Just Joe Daily, D-A-L-Y. But uh, but yeah, man, thanks for asking.

Chris Grainger

That's kind of kind of in Instagram, is that Daily Goods on Instagram?

Joe Daly

Daily Goods, I think it's Daily Goods Co. Uh CEO. I'm I'm I think I now have the ability to change it to Daily Goods finally. Someone else like dropped that. They someone else had that for the longest time, but I think I've got it now. But Daily Goods or Daily Goods Co. Uh is where you can find us on Instagram.

Chris Grainger

Well, guys, be sure to check out those links. Seriously, I mean, Joe, he he put together some phenomenal uh uh gifts for our guys for our retreat. And this is a this is gonna be a treasured gift for me. So, Joe, thank you for that first and foremost. You know, as as we wrap up. And anything else you'd like to share today before we call it a day here?

Joe Daly

Um, man, I think the I appreciate you asking. Just yeah, I I think I alluded to it earlier, but just man, the I've I've never really been like a life verse guy. And as I get older, I'm like, oh, I might have one now. And just that, and uh, it's just Acts 20, 35. It is more blessed to give than receive. Uh it talks about working for the with the hands and you know providing for the poor, but just ends it, he's quoting Jesus. It is more blessed to give than receive. And I think uh, you know, similar to that message of God loves you, I would just say it is true that it is more blessed to give than receive. And so uh, man, thank thank you for giving me the gift of your time and a chance to chat and hang out with some of your guests today. That was really generous and kind of you. And uh, man, I'm I'm grateful for it.

Chris Grainger

Chris Grainger

Well, fellas, I told you that was gonna be a good one. Joe did not disappoint. So thankful for him for sharing his heart, what God's doing in his life. Still continuing to pray for his business to just keep growing and soaring and just leaps and bounds. So because I know as that as as it grows, he's just gonna do more and more incredible things. The question of the week this week is where is God prompting you to serve? Okay. Maybe he's prompting you to serve somewhere. The question is, are you hesitating or are you gonna take the step of obedience? And my encouragement to you, guys, just take the step. And it may seem to be super small, it's okay. Just take the step because often the blessings that God has in store for us are found after those steps of obedience. Right? We just have to do what he's called us to do. So I hope you enjoyed this one. I highly encourage you to share it out with others. Again, you can hit that share button, guys. Just share it out, send a text message.
