Feeling alone doesn’t mean you’re failing—it means you’re human and paying attention. Today we sit down with Cameron Kauffman, a member whose path will feel familiar: early faith, a season of drift after high school, and then a return to church through marriage and community. Chris Grainger:

So, welcome to the Line Within Us, a podcast serving Christian men who are hungry to be the leaders God intends you to be. I'm your host, Chris Granger. Let's jump in. All right, guys. Fun Friday time. Member Spotlight. These episodes each week are getting to be my favorite. So before we get to that, those scripture of the week is Psalm 2 Psalm 142, verse 4. Look and see. There's no one at my right hand. No one is concerned for me. I have no refuge. No one cares for my life. Well, that's a real uplifting verse, right? But seriously, go back. This week's been all about a guy if you feel like you're alone. Okay. So go back and listen to those podcasts on feeling alone. Uh, and again, if you if you're feeling alone, the lion within us, the daily spiritual kickoff, Monday through Friday, we have encouragement everyday guys, the lionwithin.us. Go get started with that today, okay? All right. So this is you guys know the the the fun Fridays have transformed into our member spotlights. I'm excited to bring in one of our members, Cameron Kaufman. So what's going on, Mr. Cameron? Hey, how's it going? Well man, it's great, brother. It's great. It's actually cold this morning, but it's not as cold as I'm sure where you're you're at, because you're in Montana, man. Is it pretty cold out there for you?

Cameron Kauffman:

Yeah. It's it's been getting into the mid-20s, back into the cooler temperatures. Yeah, 23 right now, apparently. There you go. I uh I did a run this morning and I just started doing that. And uh now I'm hot. Don't like being hot. How far are you running? Uh it wasn't a it wasn't much. It was a mile and like a hundred vertical feet. Okay. I had a client who she had a pristine Nordic track treadmill that just she she didn't want anymore because the one grip on the one side got tore up and and moving. And she was gonna throw it out. I was like, hey, I'll I'll take it, I'll get rid of it for you. So there you go, man. I got a treadmill. There you go, brother. There you go. Raise that core temperature. Now I'm hot and I don't really like that.

Chris Grainger:

Well, man, I'm excited for our guys listening just to get a chance to meet you. So, yeah, give us a little of your background, you know, and how how you came to know the Lord, a little bit of your testimony.

Cameron Kauffman:

Um, I'm one of those, you know, raised Christian and been going to the church my whole life. I think the longest I kind of fell out was uh after graduating high school and moving out, living on my own. Uh, you know, dad and mom aren't kicking me in the butt in the morning to get out to go to church. So uh and then I was probably four years or so that I wasn't really going to church very often. And then I married my wife, and she is pretty devout going to church and everything. And we met when I started going to the church that we're going to now when I was eight years old, I think. Oh wow, okay. Like that. So we've known each other for over 20 years now. Were you did you guys go to school together as well? No. So now she was ahead of me in school and okay. She was homeschooled. She's one of those smart people. She finished her high school stuff at like 14. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, we so we started going to church again. And uh around that time as well, I started getting more interested in increasing my own uh knowledge and being more informed about the Bible and theology and Christianity and stuff. So and then uh eventually it was a year and a half ago, two years ago, I think my dad started doing the Lions stuff. And then a year after that, he's like, Hey, I you're getting a membership and you're doing this. And uh I think it's one of the best men's groups I've ever been part of. It's uh it's a great time. The just the fellowship and the accountability you can get through it.

Chris Grainger:

That's right. That's it, man. Yeah, your dad, oh Jeremiah, brother. So he's he's he's one of our OGs. I mean, he was an original member, man. Well, I think one of even one of our first events, maybe it was our very first event, he actually flew out here from uh from Montana and was was at it. So we go way back, man. So that's awesome, though. Sounds right. It's good stuff, man. I mean, yeah, you you've kind of joined the lion now, you come to a lot of the stuff. It's always fun when when you're there. But what what was uh kind of piquing your interest on the mastermind?

Cameron Kauffman:

Um I like picking people's minds about stuff and getting more details of it. And the the setup is fun for me, you know. You can really break down a uh a problem and run it by other guys who have different views and different opinions on stuff, or they're more informed on it. So yeah. It's it's it's nice in that way, and uh accountability. We we started that new system, and there's all the all the graphs and uh record keeping, which I really enjoy.

Chris Grainger:

Yeah, I mean winners keep score, and and we that we recognize we needed a better system, so that one, I'm excited for that one to get rolled out for sure. And you know, you guys, your your group's pretty tight, and uh from what I can tell, you guys don't mind getting into the nitty-gritty, right?

Cameron Kauffman:

Mm-hmm. Yeah, we've gotten into some stuff, but yeah.

Chris Grainger:

And that's what it's all about, you know, having having those authentic conversations, and they're just hard to find, man. They're just hard to find where you can just be real like that. You know, some church can be the hardest place sometimes to have those conversations, you know.

Cameron Kauffman:

I think a lot of people in the church think they're supposed to appear a certain way to everyone else. Right. Where that's not what we're called to do. Yeah.

Chris Grainger:

That's right. Well, for you, what's been the most impactful part of it so far?

Cameron Kauffman:

Um I think the just the the fellowship and the the community. Yeah.

Chris Grainger:

Having a group of guys that just hang out and talk with. Right. Right. The uh the consistent uh uh devotionals and all that.

Cameron Kauffman:

Right. It uh really encourages me and helps me keep on it on my own as well.

Chris Grainger:

Amen to that, brother. Has any bit has there been anything that's uh challenging with the mastermind so far or or been difficult to apply? Not really.

Cameron Kauffman:

I think the hardest part I have with uh a system like that is to me, usually the answer uh uh to whatever problem is fairly simple and a lot of the time it's just actually doing it. Yeah.

Chris Grainger:

Right.

Cameron Kauffman:

Like if if you actually just did the stuff, it would work out. Yeah. So so I think the hardest time thing I have coming up with is the uh uh coming up with what to ask. Because we'll have our hot seat person and they come up with the the topic for the day and everyone else sort of bombards them about it.

Chris Grainger:

Right. Yeah, being that hot seat, that's good, that can be a difficult time, you know, place to be sometimes. Not always, though. Not always. So if you see we got guys listening, Cameron, I'm sure, that are interested, and maybe they're just thinking they've heard about the lion, they're still kind of confused on what it's even is or what the mastermind is. What what would be your message to the guys out there listening?

Cameron Kauffman:

Um it's a great place of fellowship, great place of learning, uh, great place to meet other guys. You know, we have guys all over the world, as far as I know. I've talked to several of them, and you likely meet someone in your area or near you that I would bet 90% of them if you were in a bind and needed some help, they would they would come help you. It's it's building a fantastic community of like-minded and learning men.

Chris Grainger:

100%, brother. Well, I mean, you definitely make us better for sure. I mean you're an entrepreneur too, so you got a lot of things going on. Your dad, you got you know, busy schedule, and and uh so it's just always a blessing to to have you engage, man, because I know you got your schedules all over the place.

Cameron Kauffman:

Yeah, being able to do it from mobile is pretty useful. Most most areas get some connection at least, so I can listen in at the at the very least.

Chris Grainger:

Do you use the app a lot? I've I've never really asked you that, or because I know you're on your computer a lot. Um Yeah, yep, I do. Okay. That works pretty good for you. Yeah.

Cameron Kauffman:

Nice. Yeah, I've never had too many issues with it. It's a bit weird with their formatting. They use the they run it through the communication channel on the phone instead of through the media channel. So it uses your like calling microphone, but I gotcha. I got you. Okay. Just a little bit of weirdness.

Chris Grainger:

Yeah, man, that's it. Well, man, this has been great just for just to kind of be able to unpack a little bit of your story. Anything else you'd like to share with us today, bud? Not really, off the top of my head.

Cameron Kauffman:

I mean, keep learning, keep pushing. There you go. Do whatever you can to improve yourself and ask other people for help. We're not here alone.

Chris Grainger:

Amen to that, brother. Amen. Well, guys, you know, and Cameron, I got this book. I was gonna add, I'm so glad it worked out that you were on this episode too, because the book of the week this week, my wife got me this. Have you ever seen this book before, man? The dangerous book for boys.

Cameron Kauffman:

Yes. I've actually had one of those since I was early teens, and I gave it to my son basically.

Chris Grainger:

So well, my wife for Christmas, because this is the type of the woman I married, she's like to Daddy and Judah, I hope you have so much fun learning all these dangerous things. Love mama, Christmas 2025. So we just I just got this uh so for me and my little boy. So we're gonna start working through some of the things we already built like the world's best paper airplane. Uh that was an easy one to do. So that that's in the book. So I'm super pumped on that one and looking forward to to working through this book with him. So I thought, man, Cameron, I bet he's all over this, and not surprised you are.

Cameron Kauffman:

Yep. I have I have a few of those.

Chris Grainger:

There you go. There you go. Similar idea books. They're a great time. That's it. That's it. Well, I'm gonna run two dad jokes by you. We'll see which one gets you. And maybe neither one of them do, but we'll see. So uh, do you know which chore sucks the most, man? Vacuuming. Yeah, vacuuming. There you go. Vacuuming. All right, then numbers two is can February, March? No, but April, May. So I don't know. That's terrible. It's terrible. They're they're really bad this week. That's okay. That's okay. If you had to vote for one, which one would you go for? Uh probably the February, March one. Okay. All right, all right. There you go. There you go. Good deal. Good deal. All right, guys. Question of the week is what truth can you declare when loneliness creeps in? So if you're lonely, if you're isolated, if you're by yourself uh way too much, seriously, check out what we're doing over here at Kalion. I mean, we're really here to serve Connect in a meaningful way, not just you know, surface level stuff. These guys are getting into it deep on a regular basis. And uh, so you know, the lionwithin.us, check us out there. Open the Bible app 50 plus, maybe get close to 60 plus plans on the Bible app right now, guys. The mastermind application, the Lions Den community, the daily SKO. Guys, we've got lots of ways and our live event. If you're listening to this when it comes out, the live event's coming up in a couple months. So look, come come hang out with us uh at the end of April, okay? So, guys, this has been great, Cameron. Thank you so much for spending time with us today, brother. Thanks for having me. All right, man. If we guys get after it, we'll see you next week. Just keep unleashing the lion within. Let's just say it out loud. Marriage is one of the greatest gifts that God can give a man, and one of the most consistent places where we can feel unsure of what we're doing. Even the strongest marriages have moments where you look at your wife and you think, you know what? I love you. I'm so committed to you. But right now, I have no idea what I should do next. And that's why we launched something new inside the line within us community. It's our very first support group, and it's for husbands. And we're calling it committed and occasionally confused. This isn't just a place for men in crisis. Though if you're there, hey, you're welcome. This is for any man who refuses to coast and wants to take his marriage from good to great. So inside, you'll find an active chat and a feed, honest conversations, and brotherhood that says, you're not alone. We've been there. Let's bring this to God and grow. And we're also doing a monthly couples night where your wife is invited because we're not letting the world set the agenda for our homes. Now, if you want access to this support group, it's very simple. Go to thelionwithin.us and join the Lions Den. Okay, that's the LionWithin.us. Start your 30-day free trial of the Lions Den community, and boom, you have instant access to the committed and occasionally confused support group. We'll see you inside the den.
