The Lion Within Us - Leadership for Christian Men

574. Raising Warriors For Christ - Fun Friday

Chris Grainger

Spiritual leadership begins at home, but many Christian men struggle with the practical "how-to" of guiding their families toward Christ amidst life's demands. Drawing from 2 Timothy 1:5, we examine how faith passes through generations and what that means for today's fathers seeking to leave a godly legacy.

We’re going live every weekday with our Daily Spiritual Kickofffree and exclusive inside our community. Join us for a powerful Word, real encouragement, and practical ways to lead with faith at home and work.

No cost. No excuses. Just truth, brotherhood, and bold leadership.

Speaker 1:

Welcome to the Lion Within Us, a podcast serving Christian men who are hungry to be the leaders God intends you to be. I'm your host, chris Granger. Let's jump in. All right, fellas. Fun Friday time, let's get right into it, okay? So the scripture of the week this week is in 2 Timothy, the first chapter, the fifth verse, for I am mindful of the sincere faith within you which first dwelled in your grandmother, lois, and your mother, eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well. Love that verse, fellas, because that's what it's all about Taking God's word, simplifying it, applying it to our life. And if you need help on how to do that for this verse, the spiritual kickoff episode, which is two episodes back, just go one, two, you'll see it. The spiritual kickoff episode, which you'll see just the spiritual kickoff episode, which you'll see just two episodes back. Find it right there, fellows, and right and and and, where we try to simplify and apply this verse to our life. Now, if you enjoy those Monday through Friday in our community we do these Monday through Friday Okay, so go check those out.

Speaker 1:

The line withinus starts your spiritual, daily, spiritual kickoff experience. It's free, it's a way we try to serve All right Now. This whole week has been about we're just a guy raising kids. I don't know about you, it's hard. Maybe you just need to sigh right now. I get it. It's hard, bro, but so we took some time to unpack that devotion. We got a lot of attention out of that devotion. Guys really enjoyed it. I'm hopeful that you enjoyed it as well. If you're just a guy raising kids, keep doing your best, keep leaning in and being obedient, okay, and we're going to give you a couple of tips right here to hopefully help you continue to raise them the right way. Ok, and we also know the right way is his way, not my way, but his way. So for Fun Friday, we always do a health, wealth and self tip. That health is mind and body, wealth is career, finances, self is husband, father. The health tip this week.

Speaker 1:

I just want to encourage you take walks with your kids, because some of the most meaningful moments don't always happen at the dinner table or a formal setting where you're studying the Bible which they are important but when your guard is down and you're just walking, man, there's something cool there and it supports not only your health but it just creates space for conversations and ask questions like hey, what's your greatest part of your day-to-day, or is there anything you're worried about right now? Or what do you think God's teaching you right now for this season that you're in? Because these casual moments can become sacred moments. They can, they really can, and it shows them that you're just not spiritually present, but you're spiritually and emotionally present too. So I love walking my 13-year-old. She loves to take walks with Dad. Whatever you guys can do, carve that time to take those walks with your kids. Alright, there's your health tip, your wealth tip.

Speaker 1:

I'm all about working hard. Trust me, I've burned it too hard. No one to shut it down, because work is a blessing and a responsibility and we have to model diligence. Okay, if we want our kids to understand the value of that we have in them around stewardship, right. But there's a, there's a little danger that exists If you never stop working. It sends the message to our kids that success is measured by exhaustion and that our jobs matter more than the people at our home. It can't. It can't have that. So maybe you need to shut down your laptop at a set time. Maybe you need to turn off those notifications and I get it, it's hard, or saying no to that late meeting, because that may speak volumes to your kids. While you want to show them that hard work is honorable, you need to show them that your identity is not found in your job too, it's found in Christ, because family can't just be an afterthought, it has to be a priority. And presence is the most powerful form of provision, because when your kids see that they matter more than your next deadline, bro, you're instilling a sense of security in them and worth that money can't buy. So there you go, work hard, but know when to shut it down. And the last one I'm a hypocrite for saying this one, but I do. I've gotten better. It's still not 100%. I'd say we're probably 40, 50% on this.

Speaker 1:

And this is pray with your spouse out loud, because prayer is an understatement utilized tool in Christian marriages. It's also one of the most powerful. If you're praying with her out loud, bro, you're inviting God into your relationship and that's modeling, particularly if your kids see this. Your kids see you model that spiritual intimacy directly. And they ain't got to be perfect, because lots of prayers are just messy, right, and they're brief. But God hears you and your kids hear you. And when they hear you just just talking to God, man. They're witnessing your discipleship journey in action. They start associating love with humility and unity and all this stuff with prayer and dependence on God. Start associating love with humility and unity and all this stuff with prayer and dependence on God. And those prayers are building something powerful A home where God's presence is real. It ain't just preached, bro, it's real.

Speaker 1:

So I just want to encourage you Pray with her guys, pray with her, and I have some other tips on how to do that. So if you need help praying with your spouse, send me a note, chris, at TheLambethanus, I'd be glad to help you out with that. There's three tips Take a walk with those two kids, working hard but knowing to shut it down, and pray with your spouse out loud. I don't have a copy here with me, but my kids had this a lot growing up. It's the NIV adventure Bible. Those things are awesome for your kids. They're awesome. There are lots of kids' Bibles out there, for sure. I just like the adventure one. If you want another translation, you have to go find other kids' Bibles and things like that, but that that NIV adventure Bible is really fun. It's got a lot of really great illustrations and stories inside of it, so hopefully you guys can check that out, all right.

Speaker 1:

So let's get to our dad joke Now. Dad joke First one what do you call someone with nobody and no nose? Well, nobody knows, that's crazy. All right. What do you call someone with nobody and no nose when nobody knows? And number two I have a joke about chemistry, but I don't think it's going to get a reaction. So let me know which one you like, fellas. Number one and number two what do you call somebody with no body and no nose? Nobody knows. And I have a joke about chemistry, but I don't think it will get a reaction. So let me know which one. Number one, number two eye rolls totally count. That's what it's all about. So if you get a little sigh, account, that's what it's all about. So if you get a little sigh, that works as well.

Speaker 1:

But the question of the week, fellas, is who truly leads the spiritual direction of your home right now? You've got to ask that to yourself, and then you have to be honest with the response. And if it's not you, it's okay. Change can start today, bro, and if you need help with that, this is literally why we have the lion within us. We can come alongside of you, we can help you, we can equip you. We can help you be the leader God intends you to be. It ain't just a tagline, it's what we do, and we do that with. We can help you with the daily spiritual kickoff, just giving you some insight. That's one way. It's very passive, though. Second best way join a community, because then you can start coming and talking, having questions. We can have that fellowship, those times to help each other. The best way, though, by far leadership mastermind.

Speaker 1:

Well, chris, I'm a mastermind material. Okay, let the evil one keep telling you that that's what you don't believe, then believe the lie from the pits of hell. But you are mastermind material. Because you're masterminded, bro, you surrender your life to the Lordship of Christ. He is guiding and directing you. Yes, you are absolutely qualified. It's time to talk about this so we can give you some tips and some insights and reflections, some encouragement as you try to lead. Well, this could be at home, could be in your career, whatever it may be. This week we talked a lot about leading at home, but the Leadership Mastermind is our way to serve at a truly meaningful level.

Speaker 1:

Speaker 1:

We're making a major shift because we know the battle is real and it's time more men had access to the support they need.

Speaker 1:
