Chris Grainger

The secret to lasting transformation isn't found in dramatic gestures or occasional bursts of effort—it lies in the humble power of small, consistent beginnings. This episode unpacks how seemingly minor daily habits create the foundation for God's blessing and multiplication in our lives.

Chris Grainger:

Welcome to the Lion Within Us, a podcast serving Christian men who are hungry to be the leaders God intends you to be. I'm your host, chris Granger. Let's jump in. All right, fellas, it is fun Friday time, let's get right into it, okay? So the scripture this week is in the book of Job, chapter 8, verse 7. It says your beginnings will seem humble, so prosperous will your future be. So, fellas, go back and listen to the spiritual kickoff episode, where we take this verse and we expand it. We see how we can simplify and apply it to our life. And, if you like, the way we do that, every Monday at the Lion Within, a similar podcast, how about every day of the week, monday through Friday? That's what you get with our daily spiritual kickoff. So, guys, it's free. It's a resource that we just put out because we just love serving, we love equipping, we love encouraging. So the lionwithinus is where you can get started with that today. Go head over. You can start your account again, 100% free. Get the app on your phone and boom, you're right there with this. Monday through Friday. And guess what, if you can't make the live video stream, don't worry, we post the videos every day Immediately when I go finish going live. We render that video, we put it out and it's there. But it's exclusive behind the scenes content that only is found at thelinewithinus, so go over there, get started today.

Chris Grainger:

Okay, really enjoyed having Mitch Matthews on. By the way, fellas, I don't know if you listened to the last episode or not, but really enjoyed having him on the story around the six miracles. I'll never forget that. I mean, what an incredible story about his wife having cancer and just the way God moved, miracle after miracle after miracle, to put them in a position that ultimately changed their life forever. I mean, what an incredible story. Go back and listen to that one. So thankful for Mitch for sharing as well, fellas. So on our Fun Friday episode.

Chris Grainger:

You guys know how this works. These are usually quick, hitter episodes, but this is important because we just want to encourage you and want to equip you and just want to hopefully put some good thoughts and ideas in front of you to help you in your Christian journey. And we do that with tips, okay. So if you're new to the flying, we do a health, wealth and a self tip. Okay. So that health tip really focuses on our mind and our bodies. What do we need to be doing to strengthen those to do what God's called us to do. Wealth is around stewardship stewardship of our finances and our careers. Bottom line and self tip is not like individually self, but like self as the leaders of our home, as husbands, as fathers. What can we do in those areas to start shoring up, to start leveling up and start being the man that God's called us to be? Okay, so let's look at each one of those.

Chris Grainger:

So, from a health standpoint, think about how you start each day and, as early as possible, start each day and as early as possible, get some movement in. It's only 10 minutes, but 10 minutes of movement to start your day makes a big impact. Okay, because often, guys I know how it is you get stuck and I've got stuck in the past too Like I've got to have the perfect workout plan, it's got to be exactly right, man, and I'm telling you, if you start putting these big, hairy, audacious goals in front of you, sometimes that can be crippling and it'll stop us from doing anything. Okay, and here's the reality, something I've learned through the years that the big health transformations, the big thing. Again, I've lost a lot of weight over the years. Boys. I put it on, I've lost it, but right now I'm about 100 pounds. It starts with consistent, small daily habits. It's not occasional, intense, it's not there Like occasionally. I'm just going to go bust it hard. No, that's not how it works, fellas. I'm telling you, particularly as you get older, you have more and more birthdays that occasional intensity can actually hurt you more than it hurts you, right Than help you, rather.

Chris Grainger:

So, set a timer, just 10 minutes, and just do some movement walking, stretching, pushups or just some body weight type movements. Okay, and do it every day. Okay, right after you wake up or during your lunch break. I know, for me, I work from home, I work at a desk, I've got all this content creation, so I have to constantly just remind myself oh, it's been an hour, it's been two hours, it's time to get moving, it's time to stand up. Right, for me, I'll walk to the barn, just go walk through and just check on the horses. And if 10 minutes seems like it's too easy, that's the point, guys. Okay, the win that you're looking for is consistency, okay, consistency. You can get to the point of exhaustion later, but start with consistency, because God honors those small beginnings. He just does and if you show him every day that you're going to do what you can to take care of this vessel he's given us with. Now I'm telling you that's a small impact because, fellas, at the end of the day, this is a temple, this is not a trophy, okay. So just be careful what the end goal is, but start that day with movement and see how that improves your, your, the rest of the day as it gets going.

Chris Grainger:

All right, now for the health tip. Something to consider as you move forward, health with you, with your wealth, rather, is automate a small weekly transfer to your savings account. Mitch and I talked about this a little bit. He talked about systems over savings, but we came back to the importance of savings, and most people wait to save when you see what's left over, right? I'm telling you, guys, what I've learned, what I've seen, and for our, for our family, is that intentional saving, savings, rather requires making it a first priority.

Chris Grainger:

Ok, and it may be small amounts, boys. Ok, this takes discipline. So what you could do five bucks, 10 bucks, 20 bucks, whatever it is, but set up a separate account and just start putting it somewhere, and maybe you want to label it like you know what this is, the future mission trip fund, or this is going towards my daughter's braces, or whatever. It may be right, like, start working there and then, as your income grows and you make more, maybe have a windfall, hey, increase the amount, but don't stop the practice, because you're building the mechanism, right, the mechanism to be a good steward, and that's what it's all about. Okay, because these little small seeds they may seem small, but you're showing financial faithfulness, okay, and that's going to start unlocking things for you For generosity, for security. And that's going to start unlocking things for you for generosity, for security. And I'm telling you, god honors those who steward the little things. Well, it tells us that in the book of Luke fellas. So take the time to and I'm a big system guys too so put some systems around. Automating some weekly savings Okay, all right, that's your wealth tip. Automating some weekly savings Okay, all right, that's your wealth tip.

Chris Grainger:

Now the self tip is starting one day, each day, rather with one grounding scripture. Okay, because the first voice you hear each day really sharpens your mind. So start with God's word, right, and then share that. Share that with your family. Choose one verse the night before, write it on a sticky note or a note card or whatever it may be and put it somewhere where your family can see it and then read it out loud in the morning, read it aloud at the dinner table, read it aloud at your breakfast table, wherever you find yourself with your family no-transcript, okay. And then let that start framing how you think about it. And I'm telling you, when you start doing that and you start inviting the Holy Spirit, you start just soaking your family and your house and your home with God's word. Incredible things start happening and you're also going to find that you're going to have more and more opportunities to learn God's word and that application, man. When you move it from the head to the heart and start applying it, man, when you move it from the head to the heart and start applying it, man, it's some crazy, crazy cool stuff that starts happening. And a cool part about doing it with your family is they're they're growing with you and it's your job. You're the spiritual leader of your home. It's time to take little steps like this to put that, that, that responsibility, in action. All right, 33 tips, fellas, right there. Your health, wealth and self that health is. Start 10 minutes each day with movement. Wealth is automate that weekly transfer to your savings and that self is that. Begin each day with one grounding scripture Okay, so now book of the week.

Chris Grainger:

This week I wanted to highlight one of Mitch's books. This is one of his books. He's got two one called Ignite. This one's called Dream Job Redefined the New Rules for Creating a Career that Matters and Doing the Work that you Love. This is what Mitch is all about. I like that one, ted man. You're all over it, brother. Thank you for that one. Yeti never complains. Get it. Fellas, there you go. Number two I have a terrible fear of speed bumps, hmm, but I'm slowly getting over them. So let me know which one you like. Fellas, number one and number two. Number one was did you know that Bigfoot frequently gets confused for Sasquatch? Yeti never complains. Number two I have a terrible fear of speed bumps, but I'm slowly getting over them. So let us know which one you like best. Fellas, number one and number two.

Chris Grainger:

Yeah, if you have a dad joke that we should use support at the Lion10.us, send me an email to that email account. Okay, we'll use it on the show. We'll hook you up with some free swag just for helping us out, because it's all about the dad jokes. Remember, the qualification for a dad joke is an eye roll, a sigh or if they turn around and walk off. That qualifies too. We just want something to get just a little bit of grins going on in your house. So hopefully that encourages you and brings a little bit of light to your day.

Chris Grainger:

Guys, the question of the week this week has been how might impatience be limiting your trust in God? Think about that. If you struggle with impatience the way I do, the way that lots of guys do. We've got to just look okay, what do we need to be doing to combat that? And once you know what that is, give it over to God, fellas. Just give it over to God. So, thank you for listening to the show, thank you for hanging out Again.

Chris Grainger:
