The Lion Within Us - Leadership for Christian Men
Christian men are in a battle for their lives. Satan will do everything possible to destroy them. The Lion Within Us is a community that provides encouragement to become the leaders God intends us to be. Our main focus lies within three categories: Health (Mental/Physical), Wealth (Careers/Finances) and Self (Husbands/Fathers/Brothers in Christ). By sharpening these areas of our lives, we can find the strength needed to stand firm in our faith and unleash the Lion Within.

Welcome to the Lion Within Us, a podcast serving Christian men who are hungry to be the leaders God intends you to be. I'm your host, chris Granger. Let's jump in. All right, fellas, fun Friday time. Are you excited? I am, as we mentioned. End of the week, guys, hallelujah.
Chris Grainger:Our scripture of the week this week has been in the book of James, my favorite book of the Bible, the first chapter, the fifth verse. If any of you lacks wisdom any, you should ask God, who gives generously to all, without finding fault, and it will be given to you. So, guys, go check out that spiritual kickoff episode where we unpack that verse at length, just trying to really give you some insights to how you can simplify and apply it to your life. And, if you missed the last episode, we unpacked the three different areas wisdom, sorry, knowledge, understanding and wisdom to just give you some thoughts, some areas to consider with your own discipleship journey. So, again, if you want to learn more or connect with us about your discipleship journey and so far as getting help and encouragement and equipping and maybe you just need some fellow brothers in Christ to come alongside of you head over to thelinewithinus and primarily, look at our mastermind offering. Okay, because the mastermind is where we bring guys together and that is where the rubber meets the road. Guys, we put a ton of effort into this. We have a very structured and defined process, but the big thing is you got to have some guys, got to have some guys in your corner personal board of advisors not, yes, man, not guys who are just going to tell you what you want to hear. Guys who actually going to care about you, go listen to you, and they're going to come to you not with their own opinions, but with God's word. What does God's word say? Let's see if we can help you with this situation through the lens of god's word. That's what it's all about. So, again, the lion withinus is where you find all those resources at. Okay, guys, all right. So now for a fun friday episode.
Chris Grainger:We do each and every week we do uh, health, wealth and a self tip, okay, and that is to give you some encouragement on. Like the health, this mind and body. Like how do we strengthen our mind and our body? Wealth is stewardship of our finances and our careers, and self is how do we improve and grow as husbands and fathers, because they're all ridiculously hard right, both those roles. So for the health tip, think about this. Sabbath is for your health. Okay, rest isn't weakness, no, it's obedience. We have Okay, rest isn't weakness, no, it's obedience.
Chris Grainger:We have to make that time to recover. And this is again the area where I struggle with big time. Is the Sabbath Just taking that time to purposely unplug and slow down? So I'm not saying I got all this figured out, but I do recognize one thing God gave us this because we need it. And if we think we don't, we're basically saying God, I don't need you, my ways are better than your ways. That's what I'm saying when I don't take the Sabbath. So look, convicting myself here. Definitely, recognize I need to have more rest in my life, but you have to make this a priority. Ok, it doesn't mean you got to just go to sleep, no, but you do have to take the time to rest. Guys, please don't ignore that. The burnout is real. Stress, anxiety is real. There's so many things that are pulling at us as men. Make sure you prioritize that time to rest.
Chris Grainger:That wealth tip for you, fellows, is your time. Think about this. That's your greatest currency time. You better guard it. And you start by guarding it by scheduling what matters most. I think it's Cal Newport.
Chris Grainger:It's a book called Deep Work. It's all about some big rocks and you put the big rocks on your calendar so that you're not going to miss those. And if you look at your calendar right now, what are those big rocks? Are they meetings with your boss, meeting with clients, or do you have any time on there at all for your personal development as a disciple? Do you have any time on your calendar that you know is a non-negotiable around spending time with your kids? Do you have any time on your calendar that's around spending time with your wife, right, spending time with your fellow brothers in Christ? Are those non-negotiables or can they take a back seat if other important quote-unquote items start popping up? I'm telling you guys, time is our greatest currency. It's a finite amount. We don't know how much we get, but we do know it's not like you can't carry that stuff over to next month. It don't work that way. You use it and lose it, period, fellas. We have to keep that in mind, particularly as we steward the gifts that God has given us. Alright, now, self-tip this is for you guys who have sons.
Chris Grainger:Rough housing is leadership training. It's just real fellas, wrestling, playing, laughing with your kids throwing them around, that strengthens their confidence. My kids, both my son and my daughters actually our littles, we call them they love it. They want to be thrown on a beanbag chair. I actually did that right before I came out here to record this episode. I was like playing with one of them through a beanbag chair, but that's good for them. I mean, there's studies out there that show as well, fellas, that that type of activity, particularly for young boys, is so important for their fundamental growth. They can't hear no all the time. They need some. You know what? Let's just get down and just go at it, you know, just have a little fun. I don't want to hurt anybody, but you know what? Kids are tough man, kids are doggling it tough. Spend that time and build those relationships. Build that sense of trust up with your kids, and roughhousing is a great way to do it. All right, fellas. So here are your three tips your health, wealth and yourself. That Sabbath is for your health. Do not forget that. Don't let anybody laugh and steal that from you. Wealth tip your time is your greatest currency. Self-tip roughhousing is leadership training, fellas. All right, guys. Book of the week right here.
Chris Grainger:John Piper, let's go, don't waste your life. So I heard Pastor Joby talk about this several years ago in one of his sermons I think this is one of the sermons that he listened to. That really just had a massive impact on his own personal journey, his own personal walk. I will say this If you get a chance to listen to John Piper, you're going to be blown away. John Piper is phenomenal teacher, but he talks about his search for a single passion and breakthrough how risk is a right thing for us, um, and how the goal is gladly making others glad. God man, there's so many things here in this book. I think this is actually a sermon as well, or a sermon series. If you go search on YouTube, you can find it out there. But, john Piper, don't waste your life.
Chris Grainger:For you guys, for you believers, for you Christians, for your disciples out there, add this to your library. I mean, add it to your library. John is a phenomenal Bible teacher, one of the all-time greats of all time. All-time greats of all time. That doesn't make any sense. You know what I'm trying to say there, fellas. So, anyway, add that to your library there, guys.
Chris Grainger:All right, now let's get to our dad jokes, fellas. So I've got two dad jokes for you this week. First one is did you know that your pupils are the last part to stop working when you die? It's real, you know why? Because they dilate. I'm sorry, I think that's pretty good, they dilate. There you go. Number two of all the inventions in the last 100 years, the dry erase board has to be the most remarkable. Now look, fellas, that's a toss-up this week. I'm going to straight up. I don't know why. They're pretty good, but number one did you know that your pupils are the last part to start working when you die? They dilate. Number two of the inventions over the last 100 years, the dry erase board has to be the most remarkable. So let me know which one you like number one or number two? Eye rolls, count, size, count, chuckles, touchdown. If your wife just kind of gives you that little grin, touchdown, baby. You know what I'm talking about.
Chris Grainger:All right, fellas, look, if you've got a couple of dad jokes for us that you think we should use support at thelinewithinus, send me an email, send them in and we'll give you a shout out on the show. We'll also give some free material just for helping us out. How about that? Okay, so the question of the week we talked about all week is what are some practical steps you can take? We seek in God's wisdom daily and it all comes down to that practicality.
Chris Grainger:Again, the line within this is all about simplifying and applying God's word. So we want to help you with this. If you need help, if you need encouragement, if you just need a little, head over to thelinewithinus, connect with us. Get started today so that we can help you in your journey, because nothing would encourage me more and brings more joy to my life than seeing a fellow brother in Christ grow as well. So that's what it's all about.
Chris Grainger:Thank you so much for listening, by the way, for just taking time to spend with us. If you haven't left us a rating or review and you're listening on Apple in particular, that would help. So if you just had a minute, just scroll down and hit the five star and leave one or two sentences. I'll read them. All you know and they're so encouraging. So that would be just a small way you can support the show and then, if you want to be a donor, head over to the line within that US slash, donate, support what we're doing there, but really, what I want to help you with is within our community, within our mastermind.
Chris Grainger:Solutions out there, fellas, we have lots of ways we're serving, we're helping guys grow. That's all found at the line within us, all right. So thank you so much for listening. Hope to connect with you sometime again in the future. Yeah, come back next week, prayerful, be here ready to rock and roll and give you some more good content. Just going to encourage you to do what God's called you to do and be the leader he's called you to be. All right, so get after it, have a great day and just keep on leashing the lion with it.
Chris Grainger:I've got something big to share. We're making a major shift because we know the battle is real and it's time more men had access to the support they need, know the battle was real and it's time more men had access to the support they need. For too long, guys have been trying to carry the weight alone pressure at work, tension at home, wounds from the past, in a world that demands strength but offers no place to rest. We see it, we've lived it, and that's exactly why we built our community. It's a stronghold, a place where warriors can find rest, truth and a band of brothers standing beside them.
Chris Grainger:And starting now, we're making it easier than ever to step in. We've lowered the barrier to just $15.99 a month. That means, for less than the cost of a drive-thru lunch, you can join a brotherhood that's centered on Christ and built for growth. Inside you'll find access to our daily spiritual kickoffs every Monday through Friday, our Lion Lunches, our Bible Studies, our Friday Forge Gatherings all that and so much more. Every man needs a stronghold, and you don't have to fight alone. If you've been waiting for the right time to jump in, this is it. Go to thelionwithinus and join the community and see for yourself what happens when iron truly sharpens iron.
